Formula 1 rejects NYC Mayor's offer to hold New York City Grand Prix

Formula 1 owners Liberty Media have announced that Eric Adams, Mayor of New York City, offered Randalls & Wards Islands as a venue to host a future Formula 1 race. However, according to reports, Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media, made it clear that such an event would most likely not happen.

Maffei stated that the proposal for Randalls Island was not the perfect venue to host an F1 race, while also adding that hosting a street race in New York is very hard. Maffei mentioned how Las Vegas is one of the very few cities in the USA where a street race could be possible since it has a different mentality.

This, however, isn't the first time Formula 1 has been associated with New York. Former boss, Bernie Ecclestone tried to host a race in or near New York for many years. It almost became a reality in 2013, but the event fell through due to a lack of funding.

Formula 1 recently held its first Miami Grand Prix two weeks back, making it the second venue to host an F1 race in the USA after the Circuit of the Americas. USA will host a third Formula 1 race from the 2023 season, which will be held on the streets of Las Vegas.

So, the FIA thinks that it makes sense to conduct a Formula 1 race in Saudi Arabia after a drone attack close to the venue the previous day but conducting a race in NYC is a challenge. FIA seems just as corrupt as FIFA.

This is more to do with the fact that the US already has three races including Las Vegas from 2023, the other thing is some drivers are complaining about the number of GPs held so that must have also played a part.
