I started following F1 during the RB-Vettel dominance era. I'm pretty sure lot of us are going to miss him very much. Take a bow the sole Indian GP winner.

Just read this on Reddit. Quote by F1 Journalist Claire Cottingham.

Last week after qualifying I asked Sebastian Vettel who would be taking over the baton in F1 to speak out about human rights and climate change once he retires from the sport. He replied “Instagram.” I didn’t get it at the time. Now I do.

Interesting. Another one of the F1 giants decide to step away. And I think it's the right decision - although I'm sure there will be fans on either side of that decision. Take a bow, Vettel!

The more important question - who will replace him?
- German driver with another German driver (a.k.a. Schumacher)?
- One of the AlphaTauri guys (say Gasly)?
- Will it be a new rookie?
- Or might it be Ricciardo (as rumors were abound last year)

Sebastian Vettel to Retire at the end of 2022 Season!

Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!-268497e12db84229994f9919b04f48b4.jpeg

After a phenomenal career in the motorsport with 4 World Titles, 53 Race Wins and 122 Podium finishes, Sebastian Vettel has announced his retirement at the end of the 2022 Season.

Vettel is currently 14th in the driver standings and is racing for the Aston Martin team alongside Lance Stroll. The team’s underwhelming performance since it’s debut in F1 is probably one of the reasons leading to Vettel’s retirement.

According to Vettel “The best race is still to come”.

Schumacher will renew with haas for sure and stay within the Ferrari family.
Gasly has a new contract with alpha tauri.
Ricciardo will likely stay with mclaren until 2023.
New rookie is doubtful. But maybe latifi moves there as a pay driver, opens his seat up at Williams for Oscar piastri and Williams become a Renault customer.

VET saying a small piece as he retires.
I was not the biggest fan of his during his championship domination years but I grew to like him over the years, even feel sorry for him after the Ferrari spell. I will miss him.

Grazie Seb!

Without doubt Seb has given me so much joy during his Ferrari years! I watched in angst when he took 4 titles in a row, twice beating Alonso in a Ferrari! But when he came to Ferrari, he brought so much energy and I can easily say that he was one of the best for the Italian team. His hard fought victories, his fantastic team building capabilities, and what not.

Sure, his final years were not the best, but let’s remember him for all those great moments in the red!

I will miss his humour, he is such a fantastic human being, my 10 year old son also loves him so much and we really hope he comes back in some official capacity for the FIA.

A legend of the sport.

He will be missed for speaking up on what matters outside of Formula 1.

But the writing was on the wall. Aston Martin some way off the pace.
Good call to call it quits when his head was not in it anymore.

That Red Bull fit him like a glove.
My favorite pick of him that I have taken :

What a sensible and clear thought process with regards to his exit from the sport.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

F1 is going to miss a great driver and a gem of a human being.

Before the pre season test, with all the hope Aston were serving, I was expecting the car to be good enough so that Seb could fight for a podium at Singapore. Don’t see that happening sadly.

I think he has done well this year to redeem himself. Ferrari messing things up this year also proves a point that it’s no cakewalk racing for them.

It was fun watching him look so happy driving his FW14B at Silverstone. He has recovered well from what Ferrari put him through in 2020.

Go check out Alonso and Seb race wheel to wheel in Austria. The new gen should see that too. They’re only good at bumper cars. And most you get is a 5 sec time penalty.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

I remember the nickname he gained during his championship winning years- Finger boy. I used to stop watching and turn off the TV whenever he won, before the podium celebrations.
But as someone else mentioned, he has matured to an important sporting figure.

Watching the last race, last lap, last corner with his teammate Stroll, I am not surprised he is calling it quits.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

2 major surprises passed by me yesterday
1. Seb joins Instagram
2. Seb's 1st post :

It is definitely sad to see one of the giants in F1 retiring, but I think it is the right time for him. It is evident that his car is barely fighting competitively with the mid-fielders and not sure if he will be able to get a podium winning car from the team in the near future.

He is one of the major reason for many of the Gen Z and Millennials to start following F1. He has matured a great deal over the years and has started standing up for the values he believes in [Especially if one sees his interviews in the past year].

What a great soul to leave F1!
Hope he will join FIA in some capacity, but unlikely, as he seems to have priorities all sorted out. HAPPY FOR HIM

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

I am still unable to get myself to believe that we will not be seeing him from next year. What a giant of a sporting figure, and more importantly, what a man! I am sure we will be seeing him in a new role, trying to make the world a better place. In his own words, #ThereIsStillARaceToWin.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

Lets begin this by hailing as the best racing driver I consider just a bit below Alonso. The 4 championship years and 2017 and 19 battle years in Ferrari are some of the best racing stints I've ever seen. Since that 19' Hockenheim this move was speculated by us fans around the globe. Those last 2 years and particularly this one at AM are nothing to write home about mainly because of that car. Rest I do hope he has a brilliant retirement and stays withing the F1 universe in some capacity and surely remains Uncle Seb for Mick. Cheers Seb! Will miss you.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

Another day, another legend retiring.

No more MSC, no more VR46 and now no VET either on the lapboards or pitlanes.

Sad day for motor racing but I guess all good things must come to an end. Wish him all the best for the future and if his racing precision/passion was anything like how he is personally then I guess life will be just fine for him

Side Note: He said his favorite color is blue (like me), must have been a pain sitting in that all-red Ferrari (again like me owning a Red Tata Tiago)
