A great human being indeed but clearly no longer the driver he once was in his glory days. It's a well-chosen moment to retire and enjoy more time with his family.

Sayonara Vettel. I managed to get a picture of two legends together in Delhi in 2013.

Both choose Family time as their main reason to leave the sport and that is hugely respectable.

In fact Kimi has been visiting Finland recently and has sponsored refurbishment of the go karting track where he started his racing and he has been using the track privately for his kids. My daughter drives on the same track now.

I'm sure we'll see more of that from Vettel too.

Its hard to see him with Aston martin getting out in Q1 & Q2, so I think its for the best, He will remain the driver who has won all of F1 Indian Grand Prix will love to see Mick Schumacher as his replacement

Let's see. My vote goes for Schumacher. Time will tell (soon).

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

2011 Indian GP, ACI gave me a free of cost ticket through some silly contest that was run on Facebook. ACI even called to make sure I did not waste the ticket by not attending. Little did they know how far I flew to attend it. At that time Schumacher was driving for the silver arrows.

The easy things I remember from that year are, the incredible cheer of the crowd every time Schumacher would pass the said corner, Rowan Atkinson attending the race and Vettel winning more or less easily.

The racing camaraderie between Schumacher and Vettel was also quite visible those days. German friends, who party(ied) with Vettel, tell that he is an incredibly humble guy apart from being witty and humurous.

Everyone has their own favourite sportsmen. For me everytime Vettel would take pole or win, I had a joyous moment. Used to follow F1 mostly because of Schumacher, Vettel and Kimi over the years. Haven't been able to keep a proper track now for a couple of years. One more reason now not to.

re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

One of the all-time greats of Formula One, and certainly someone who will be held in high regard in the history of Indian motorsports, having been the sole winner of all Indian Grand Prix. And of course, who could forget the post-race scenes at Buddh in 2013, which are surely some of the most iconic motorsport images of all time.

Among many others, he is one of my sporting idols, that I've grown up respecting - both for immense natural ability, and more recently, for their proactiveness and willingness to take a stand on various issues. It makes it easier to understand why he'd retire now, together with Aston Martin's awful form.

What makes it sadder though, is that I suspect that he will largely disappear from the racing world after this season. He is no Alonso or Verstappen, living and breathing racing every minute of the day. I would like to see him drive Le Mans at some point, perhaps in an all-electric experimental Garage 56 entry, but my hopes are not particularly high in that regard.

Nevertheless, he will be sorely missed, in the F1 paddock and beyond. A really charismatic, respectable, and intelligent figurehead for the sport, and now for so many things beyond sport.

This legend is the sole reason I started watching F1. I instantly loved the way he drives. The only other person who was instantly blown away with their driving would be Leclerc. But currently Seb is on a league of his own. He will forever be one the major GOAT to exist.

With his record of 9 straight GP wins still standing strong, I don't if or when the record will be broken. And by whom is the question.

Hopefully Nico gets the Aston Martin seat for next season.

Nico Rosberg to ARAMCO Aston Martin? Really?
Did you mean the same Nico Rosberg who beat the 7 time world champion Lewis Hamilton on equal machinery in 2016?

That seat is well fought for. Danny Ric might make another depressing career move to AM.
Papa Stroll would always make Lance Stroll the #1 driver at AM. That is the reason why many drivers where rather uninterested at that seat

Alonso agrees on a multi year deal with Aston Martin from 2023!!

Although, I feel that Alpine was a better team than AM. It paves the way for Piastri to move to Alomso's current seat

Is Vettel joining Alpine?

Not sure if this is fake or not.

Edit- That was from a fake account.

Re: Sebastian Vettel to retire at the end of the 2022 season!

Last drive for Vettel in F1. It's been heartening to see him grow as a person. He's had a wonderful career, battled against the best. To top it off, he's gained a lot of respect.

Abu Dhabi is all about Vettel it seems, with arch rival Alonso running a Vettel tribute helmet, so did Mick, Lando and Carlos. There was a lap arranged in his honor and Ferrari arranged a send off. All 20 driver's went out for a dinner organised by Hamilton.
