Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

It’s interesting to see no comments here about one of the most exciting races, with three teams fighting for victory and racing within less than three seconds of each other.

If I ever wished for a race, it would be like the one in Azerbaijan. What a race! And what a drive from Oscar – a true champion’s performance.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

Absolute edge-of-the-seat racing from Oscar and Charles!

As viewers, we want these kinds of contests more. Max, with a compromised car, is adding to the excitement. I can't wait for the next 8 races. After a long time, F1 seems to be interesting.

The penultimate lap incident was uncalled for. It was a racing incident at best. Carlos was ahead, and he went for the slipstream. Checo Perez had room on his left, but it happened so quickly, so neither driver could be blamed.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

I could only watch highlights from F1 YouTube channel as FanCode yet to upload race replay. Looks like I missed the most interesting race of the season. Great win by Oscar and a good recovery race from Lando.

And good to see the newcomers Colapinto and Bearmar scoring points.

Called it in early March at Bahrain

The gap from P1 to P20 has never been smaller. Super excited for the season ahead!

The gap to Red Bull has reduced (Charles's Q2 time was actually faster than Max's Q3 time). We could have a different top 10 every race simply because tiny driver errors will define the grid, in the past inter team pace differences would overshadow this.

Even last evening Charles, Lando, Lewis, Checo & Lance claimed/had more Q3 pace.
It will be about delivering consistent qualifying performances every weekend. Traffic management, building up good out laps and ensuring no lap times deleted will be key. Drivers will need to make every set of new tires count, ensuring 1 attempt gets them through in Q1 to save new sets for closer Q2 & Q3 sessions.

Looking forward to race performances and the effect tire deg will have. Haas being the big question mark here.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

It is unusually quiet here. Maybe the upcoming Singapore GP will add to the interest.

Baku was incredible and Piastri has definitely stamped his place for future greatness he seems destined for. Strong recovery race by Lando, despite being extremely unlucky in qualifying - these could be crucial points that ultimately decide the drivers championship.

Unfortunate race for Mercs - still Russel lucked out with the crashes in front of him.

Sainz I thought got a little too optimistic with challenging Charles after overtaking Perez - which opened the door Perez to come back at him, otherwise Ferrari were looking good for a double podium.

Perez, as was pointed out had a lot of room, but ultimately a racing incident with both drivers fighting for the slip stream.

Singapore should be a good one with both Ferrari and Mercs being strong traditionally and McLarens expected to go strong. This could help increase the jeopardy in the Drivers race or make things easier for Red Bull and Max if they can get their setup in a good window.

Redbull making the usual noises and tagging onto the mini-DRS row. Amazing!
Surprisingly Old man Marko is quite(-er). Could there be some truth about the back-room discussions for Max?

This is like going to a restaurant where the food is top notch, resulting in less conversation!
On track action speaking for itself. Baku was an amazing race.

Singapore Grandprix

What a crushing win by Lando! He left everyone behind by a pit stop margin, even his teammate Oscar. Red Bull pulled some dodgy tactics at the end, snatching the fastest lap point away from Lando with Daniel, who is most probably in his last F1 race.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

At the end of the year it will be made official, Renault ceases to be an engine, making Viry-Chatiron become a center for the development of electric technologies, batteries, etc. and to help the development of Alpine models. Will become Alpine Hypertech.

Alpine F1 will switch to using engines from another engine, which looks like it will be Mercedes.

I think Singapore was one of the most boring races in the recent set of GPs

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

The silence on this thread after Brazil 2024 is deafening! Wonder why?!

Rain is a great leveller and only the cream rises to the top. Max was in a different league on Sunday. Even though I am a Ferrari fan deep down, I loved watching Max absolutely school the field! His drive on Sunday was an absolute stamp of authority!

P17 to P1, in treacherous conditions, no DRS, and a non-existent team mate. For all those who were saying “it’s the car” will now have to eat humble pie.

Lost a little respect for Lando after he said - talent had little to do with it, and it was luck - during the post race briefing. And sorry, this is exactly what he meant, it’s not being taken out of context.

His attitude is not in sync with his results off late - talking down to Lewis in the cool down room a few months ago, suggesting that Vettel focuses on racing a few years ago, and now suggesting that talent had little to do with Max’s P17 to P1 result. Pretty rich coming from someone who keeps bottling the opportunities presented to him. 3 wins and suddenly he behaves like he has won multiple championships.

He has had the fastest car, by far, for more than half of the season, and yet he is still 60+ points adrift from the championship lead.

If Lewis had his car, he would have been leading the WDC as we speak!

My money is on Piastri next year, I’d be willing to bet that Oscar will not be a Bottas / Perez to Norris at the start of next year.

All said and done though, it’s been a great year in Formula 1! The last 10 weekends have produced scintillating moments, Baku and Monza come to mind, apart from Brazil of course! Singapore was probably the only boring race this year. Getting into every race weekend not knowing who would win or who would get on the podium has been quite thrilling!

Looking forward to the next three races. Max has the WDC all but sewn up, but I do hope Charles secures P2 in the WDC!

I am really looking forward to 2025. Eager to see how Ferrari + Lewis will pan out. And with Red Bull on a downward spiral, the championship is going to get very interesting!

I can categorically say that mid 2022 onwards, the forum has been the quietest in terms of F1 in all of the 15-16 years I have been here.
2025 is sure to be a stonker in terms of racing as well forum activity, I am sure.

As for mclaren, I am glad that they have pushed Norris this year. He's been found wanting. Meantime, Piastri has luckily been maturing in a fast car - not a backmarker - and has shown his capability. I like how cool he always sounds. It will be fun when everyone starts at zero next year.

Lewis in Red, I have to back him, though I don't like ferrari since the 98 season. I think Fred's expectation from Lewis is 50:50 between him winning and him bringing order to the italian arm waving chaos with a view to 2025 as well 2026 development! Just wish Bono was moving too.
