Max Verstappen wins the F1 World Driver's Championship for the 3rd consecutive year

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen secured this third Formula 1 World Driver's Championship at the recently concluded 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. Verstappen secured the title during Saturday's Sprint Race after finishing second behind McLaren's Oscar Piastri.

Max Verstappen is the 11th driver in the sport to secure three or more world championships. He is also the 5th driver to win three back-to-back world championships, putting him alongside F1 legends like Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham and Nelson Piquet. Verstappen only has Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, Juan Manuel Fangio and Alain Prost ahead of him with more championship wins.

The Dutch driver even created a record this season with the highest win streak, securing 10 Grand Prix wins in a row, beating the previous 9-win streak set by Sebastian Vettel. Red Bull has also been unbeatable this year, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez winning all but one race throughout the season.

Red Bull F1 team wrapped the 2023 Constructor's Championship at the previous Japanese Grand Prix.

The 2023 F1 season still has 5 more races to go, including 2 sprint races.

Re: Max Verstappen wins the F1 World Driver's Championship for the 3rd consecutive year

Max has been amazing this season along with a car which is perhaps the best on grid. Along with his third consecutive championship, its worth mentioning he has won 10 consecutive races this season and if not for the performance blip in Singapore, he could have extended the streak quite a bit beyond 10.

Looking forward to the next season though, with Mclarens slowly but surely catching up with Red Bull.

Deep down, I really want Sir Lewis Hamilton to win his 8th Championship title and retire as the greatest F1 driver ever. He deserves that recognition.
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" - The more this legend tries to stay in F1 , the more his Haters will make his life miserable.

This is just my personal thoughts and wish.

He should have retired last year with dignity instead of the current struggle due to teammate George Russell outperforming him this season.

On the contrary, Hamilton has come 2nd twice and 3rd thrice this year so far. Russell has come 3rd only once. As rightly pointed out above, he's 3rd on the points list. Russell is 8th.

Optics change everything. In all news/ reporting, Hamilton's performance is seen/talked about in a negative light (what he was in the past...) . Russell doesn't get the same treatment.

Give him a good car, capable of taking the Bulls by the horns and the man has enough mettle to meet them head to head.

Outperforming is a stretch. Quali he is trailing only by 9-8. Well ahead in points. Has been faster on race pace in occasions, including Singapore.

Not sure why we're talking about Hamilton on this thread. Great job by Max, simply astonishing level of consistency and pace all season.

Absolutely correct. Let's not discuss about other drivers on this thread. We can have a separate thread for this.

I would agree we should have a separate thread and we can discuss different drivers' performances.

A lot has happened this season with potentially more upcoming. Some of the points along with Lewis which can be discussed are like Piastri's awesome performance, will Perez be driving the RB next year but surely on a different thread.

Par excellence from Max.

His speed, consistency and race craft (as well as team mate mental destruction) putting him into GOAT territory/discussions now.

Re: Max Verstappen wins the F1 World Driver's Championship for the 3rd consecutive year

Superlative performance from Verstappen once again, no doubt he is currently the best F1 driver with the best F1 car and best team.

F1 mangement should change the schedule for races in Middle East as it's too hot during this time of the year. F1 drivers said the sport had reached a limit and needed to heed the warning signs after Sunday's Qatar Grand Prix ended with some on the brink of collapse, vomiting and with severe dehydration.

Alpine's Esteban Ocon said he had thrown up in his helmet early in the race, such was the heat and humidity, while Aston Martin's Lance Stroll told reporters he almost passed out at the wheel. Williams' Alex Albon was taken to the circuit medical centre after the race with acute heat exposure, and was later released, while teammate Logan Sargeant felt too unwell to continue and was treated for intense dehydration after stopping. Others lay on garage floors to recover after the race.

We probably found the limit, said McLaren's Lando Norris. Sad we had to find it that way with some people ending up in the medical centre or passing out. A pretty dangerous thing. On TV it probably doesn't look that physical but when you have people who end up retiring it is too much for the speeds we are doing it is too dangerous. It's something we need to speak about because it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Track temperatures during the floodlit night race at the Lusail circuit never dropped below 36 degrees Celsius, according to tyre supplier Pirelli, while daytime temperatures nudged above 40 degrees

An oven Red Bull's newly crowned triple world champion Max Verstappen said it was way too hot to drive.

Mercedes' George Russell said it had been absolutely brutal and he felt close to fainting. I felt ill during this race. It was like you were inside an oven, he added. McLaren's Australian rookie Oscar Piastri, who finished second, said it was definitely the hardest race I have had in my life.

After all safety is the priorty which includes the driving conditions too. Sincerely hope that F1 mangement will look into this and avoid such occurence in future.
