'Ferrari to confirm Alonso at Monza' - Planet-F1 News - from planet-f1.com
Its been a longstanding rumour but its now that Ferrari desperately need the best car development to bring them back to the front. Makes a strong case to finally pull Nando in. Only question is, who'll make way? Hope to see Kimi in Ferrari but then again, ice cream and regular rallying don't gel with F1.
They say the contract's gonna be signed at Monza.
Kimi's been rallying of late. He might move to WRC.
You're probably right but would Massa like to go back to being a number two after coming so close to the championship? On the other hand, I can see Kimi being totally cool about being a number two to Alonso. Either way, there's no debating the fact that Alonso will want number one status
Kimi is apparently creating problems. Ferrari offered to buy his contract out, but he refused saying that he wants to drive for Ferrari in 2010.
Wow I hadn't heard about that. Any links GTO?

How exactly do you see that happening ?
He did not want to be number 2 to Schumi for gods sake !
I guess in a scenario like that Kimi will switch to WRC .
I think as Kimi is going to move to WRC, Alonso may be their next star !!
I haven't heard anywhere about it, not even any newsletter from Ferrari's F1 website. Any links ??

This info can't be substantiated. As it is F1 is losing its sheen. So, it hardly matters now although i'm a hard core fan of F1. been watching it from 15 yrs.
The info can't be substantiated but how then the news is leaked ??
Well, if this happens, I'm switching loyalties. Unfortunately, I hate Crybaby more than I love Ferrari.
So, bye bye Ferrari! :( It was nice supporting you for the past decade. Hope to support you again once you get rid of the crying, whining go kart driver.

I feel your pain buddy. I went through that in 2007 too but somehow I managed to stay loyal. Stick with Ferrari. You can do it!! :D

I can bet on this my friend, its not that easy to part ways with team Ferrari after supporting & cheering them for a decade.
I think most of us had this thought when Michael raced last for a Ferrari, but I think none of us could switch, we still continue to love & support FERRARI.
Being a tifosi, I\'ve always hated Alonso. In 2007, although I hated him more, I was in awe.
He\'s the bad guy, alright. But, Alonso intimidates the daylights out of everyone on the grid with his raw talent.
Well, Is there another 2-time world champion other than him on the grid today?
Ever since he left Mclaren, I\'ve been wanting him to move to Ferrari.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. And for ferrari, lets face it... these are desperate times.
If he moves and Ferrari gives him a decent car, he will quash competition like they don\'t exist!
Think about it, he stole two consecutive championships and made the greatest retire!
Looks like this is confirmed news. I hope Kimi is not one to lose seat at Ferrari. Kimi is naturally very quick and with a better car I am sure he can do better. This is a man who came so near to becoming a world champion, it was almost his but he lost it by a very very small margin. I think he is one of the best and quickest. He needs a crew that knows his preferences.
One more article supporting the news.

Ferrari to confirm Alonso at Monza - report - Worldcarfans

September 11 2009 could be the date on which Fernando Alonso is revealed as a Ferrari driver for the next five formula one seasons.
The Spanish newspaper Diario AS claims that the sport\'s best-known secret may already be scheduled for official confirmation on the Friday of the Italian grand prix at Monza.
The report believes Ferrari has not decided which of the team\'s contracted 2010 drivers, Felipe Massa or Kimi Raikkonen, will be ushered aside to make room for the former double world champion, who currently races for Renault.
AS said Ferrari intends to hold its major end-of-season event at Valencia in November, not only to welcome Alonso, 27, to the team, but also its new 2010 Spanish sponsor Santander.
The report said Alonso could be the "surprise guest" at the event, but would have to wear casual clothes because of his Renault contract through December 31.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. Although I\'m not too fond of Alonso as a person, one cannot deny that he is currently the best driver there is on the grid. I had high hopes on Kimi after he won his first WDC in 07\' but his form in 08\' and the current season is anything but impressive.
Ferrari are not having a good time currently and they really need to revive their fortunes. They can say bye bye to 09\' and should concentrate on next year\'s car. If Ferrari can give Alonso the car which he really needs, I can bet on Ferrari getting back to winning ways next season. Alonso has the drive but doesnt have the car to do it in.
Only question for now is who goes? My money is on Kimi leaving.
