Michelin runners to run at Indy?
French tyre manufacturer may not take part in US GP

It’s been a torrid weekend so far for Michelin at Indianapolis with reports now coming in from the French AFP agency that the French company is advising its teams not to take part in qualifying or the 73-lap US Grand Prix as things stand at the moment.

Michelin, in talks with the FIA, are looking at the feasibility of flying in a completely new batch of tyres from its French base for use in the race, but this requires authorisation from the FIA and agreement from Bridgestone...</FONT>

Seriously man, hate Star Sports for showing golf. Anyways, followed the proceedings online and here's the results:

1 Trulli 1:10:625
2 Raikkonen 1:10:694
3 Button 1:11:277
4 Fisichella 1:11:290
5 M.Schumacher 1:11:369
6 Alonso 1:11:380
7 Barrichello 1:11:431
8 Sato 1:11:497
9 Webber 1:11:527
10 Massa 1:11:555
11 Montoya 1:11:681
12 Villeneuve 1:11:691
13 Zonta 1:11:754
14 Klien 1:12:132
15 Heidfeld 1:12:430
16 Coulthard 1:12:682
17 Monteiro 1:13:462
18 Albers 1:13:632
19 Karthikeyan 1:13:776
20 Friesacher 1:14:494

Trulli takes pole! Awesome stuff from Toyota. Kimi was ahead of Jarno at the first and second timing beams. No idea if he made a tiny mistake later to lose the top spot. Anyway, starting grid looks very interesting. Hope to see a cracker of a race tomorrow

kimi is in for trouble at the start ...both tthe renaults are lined up behind him ... hope he makes it cleanly thru the first corner ... seems like a 2 stop sttrategy for the mclarens...

I agree turbo. Those Renaults just catapult out of the starting line. I just hope no one rams into Kimi at the start. Button is a slow starter. If he can get past Jarno at the first corner, he should have it pretty easy.

Why are the Williams so much off the pace? And what's up with Montoya? That second McLaren is really being wasted. I would prefer Pedro DeLa Rosa anyday! (due apologies to all Montoya fans).

montoya has been unlucky but he is very quick ... i think these 2 (kimi n JP) make a great pair ... i wouldnt worry about the them stay down the order considering the mid race charge the mclarens are capable of ..

micheliin is bringing in the same tyres froom france which were used in Monaco , whr alonso lost so much ground due to the deteriorating prformance of his rear tyres...i hope that slows him down ...we (mclaren fans) need 2 podiums with kimi as winner ..

Montoya may be a talented driver, but to me, he is just not stable and composed enough. He's one guy with a wild temper which makes him kinda unpredictable. Light-years ahead of Mr. SlowCoach (DC) though! ;-)

Wonder if the problems with the Michelins were just a weird coincidence. Debris on the track maybe? I hope those Ferrari worshipping FIA clowns don't mess up things too much for Michelin. Those tires are really working for McLaren this season.

And I would want Alonso to be beaten fair and square! Not due to a deteriorating rear tyre. Anyway, lots of races still to come. Fingers and toes crossed.

Unfortunalety he had to go out in the first 5 drivers so the track conditions was not favourable for him..

problem for KIMI is that the the first conner is very far.. the long starights will see the renaults take 1 and 2..

Great pole for Truli . Toyota has really been good this season. Kimi is also in a good position and can take the lead from Jarno because the Mclaren has pace all the way. Only issue is to beware of the rocket starting Renault. And Alonso lining up next to Schumi.. hope to see something interesting. Michelin have been the talk of the US GP weekend I want to see how the Bridgestones perform in the race
