Oh boy! Just when I thought I wouldn't be seeing Piquet Jr. anymore, I read this. And surely, you'd expect daddy to give him a drive wouldn't you? Mods, maybe you can edit the title

P.S. For those who are too lazy to open the link, it essentially says that Piquet Sr. is looking to buy the BMW team

What is piquet pissed about? His performance was shoddy throughout the season. In the same car, he consistently qualified 10 spots behind Alonso. Easy to complain about not getting equal treatment et al, but at the end of the day, sheer results count more than excuses.

I can see why Piquet Sr is lining up for Sauber. I mean, what's $50 mill a year to keep your sons career going, right?

I agree Piquet didnt show much in these years but with Flavio and the entire Renault backing-up Nando, I really doubt if Piquet got his share to prove about.

Someone wrote this in TSN: "Piquet Curiosity Piqued at Lack of Reno Renew"

I dont think we would see Piquet again, unless the senior buys him the Sauber

Piquet a good competitor for Nando? Oh please!
Dont intend to start a war, but Piquet didnt do anything this year compared to Nando (maybe he didnt have the camp support).

Rocky, you're right when you suggest that he may not have had camp support.

But more than that, you need encouragement within the team. Look at Massa and how he almost gets babysitted by Smedley in the car. Some drivers need that. If Piquet had that, maybe he'd do well. Also, he almost always has the lower spec older car compared to Alonso. He's done very well in every series he raced in until F1 too. IMO, he could be a reasonably good (Fisichella, DC, Irvine type) racer in the right enivronment but he's clearly not WDC material.

Piquet Jr is an average driver. F1 isn't going to miss him.
Last year in German GP, he was leading the race for sometime, and let Lewis pass him as if he was being lapped, without even giving a fight.

I think Nelson was given a fair chance by the Renault team and has not reason to be pissed about being asked to leave. His performances have been lacklusture and nothing to write about.

In all honesty, I think he was at Renault for so long only because of his famed surname without which he would have been shown the door long ago.
