I like the car but have a few concerns. WRC and rallying cars are getting smaller and smaller....
When toyota , mitsubishi and subaru were fighting they had cars with boots fighting for the championship. They looked fantastic and were competing on equal grounds. Then came ford with their focus and then citroen made another step by bringing a smaller c4 coupe into the picture.
This made Subaru design a hatchback(looked s*t in my view)... Finally Mitsubishi and Subaru quit the sport bcz they could not win.
Now ford have taken another step backwards by putting the fiesta into the picture...
Seems like the FIA's rally car rule is pathetic.... FIA should revisit the rules and plug holes before the sport becomes miniature racing.

The current ford team has always been using hatches, and so have the Citroens. IIRC - WRC has always had Hatch backs or notch backs competing at some point or the other.

Mitsu and Subaru did not quit because they did not win, but due to the prevailing market conditions. Almost all japanese teams have pulled out from motorsports. Esp the factory backed teams. There are talks of a japanese tyre mfg also pulling out of motorsports this season. The Japanese economy is finally looking at signs of recovering after a MUCH longer slump.

so mitsubishi and subaru are not pulling out because they lost to hatchbacks.

guys, this is for the new S2000 class.
Not the premier class where the ford will compete with the focus.

the punto also competes in the s2000 class.

Man, I'm drooling at the thought of this car as a track day machine.
High revvs, Sequential shifting,...

In the JWRC, they run 1600cc NA engines. Displacement of a Baleno.
But guess whats the power output?
240 BHP!

Yes, i know it is named as the s2000, but from 2011 fiesta would be replacing focus in WRC.

Yes, Ford moved out of Escort to Focus.
Toyota pulled out of F1 but not from nascar Why??? they are winning in Nascar. It is that simple.
I think you should also note why Subaru went on to design a hatchback when they were running a liftback(hatchback with boot)? Just bcz they could not get the performance out of it.
No company will pull out of any sport when they are winning as they would have enough sponsors when they are winning.
