RBR strikes again!!! Vettel goes top in FP2, Alonso finishes a close second.

It looked like only Ferrari and Red-Bull were able to post better times on option(soft) tires while others look comfortable in their prime(hard) tires.
Would be interesting to see pit strategies.

LEWIS HAMILTON!

Made a mistake on what should have been his final flyer and then sets the fastest lap on tyres that had already suffered one punishing lap. As Steve Slater put it, that was a lap of the Gods!

Incredible stuff

Hamilton drove to the limits on his last qualifying lap!! SO hard that he hardly had any fuel left to go to the pits. Very funny when Hamilton was just coasting on the straight towards the last corner and then pushed his car for some distance.
Nice drive by Liuzzi! Didn't expect him to perform better than Sutil. Both FI cars were quick on this track.

So here are the final qualifying results...

1 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes
2 Mark Webber RBR-Renault
3 Sebastian Vettel RBR-Renault
4 Fernando Alonso Ferrari
5 Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes
6 Vitantonio Liuzzi Force India-Mercedes
7 Felipe Massa Ferrari
8 Robert Kubica Renault
9 Adrian Sutil Force India-Mercedes
10 Nico Rosberg Mercedes GP
11 Rubens Barrichello Williams-Cosworth
12 Nico Hulkenberg Williams-Cosworth
13 Michael Schumacher Mercedes GP
14 Vitaly Petrov Renault
15 Sebastien Buemi STR-Ferrari
16 Jaime Alguersuari STR-Ferrari
17 Pedro de la Rosa BMW Sauber-Ferrari
18 Kamui Kobayashi BMW Sauber-Ferrari
19 Heikki Kovalainen Lotus-Cosworth
20 Jarno Trulli Lotus-Cosworth
21 Timo Glock Virgin-Cosworth
22 Bruno Senna HRT-Cosworth
23 Lucas di Grassi Virgin-Cosworth
24 Karun Chandhok HRT-Cosworth

Hamilton was good today. Fastest in all Q1, Q2 and Q3. Redbull are right behind him though and may an advantage later in the race. Surprisingly Mercedes failed big time.
Force India look promising for a good race.

The Q3 ending was a bit funny, with Hamilton trying to push his car after switching off the engine.

That incident showed a potential loophole in the rules. He drove an extra lap because his previous lap was slower. One could argue that he gained an advantage by running that extra lap, leaving him without enough fuel to be over the minimum weight limit had he completed the in-lap.
May be from next race we might see 10 drivers pushing their cars on track after qualifying

Force India 6 and 9.. Wow

If they can retain their nerves and position, it would be great.

Mercedes GP failed BIG TIME.

I could see Schumi fuming at the pit garage. Hope some improvement is done on his car tomorrow and he comes with some points.

More or less. Mclaren and Redbull have proved their dominance.

Great lap from Hamilton to get the pole. I am happy that there isn't much of a difference between teams in the top 10.
If Alonso can keep 4th place at the end of 1st lap then I can see him getting to podium. Massa should be happy to start at 7th after barely making it to Q3. He should be able to get past Liuzzi for 6th at the start.

MercGP, I wonder what is wrong with them. Schumi was disappointing in 13th and Rosberg only 10th.
Should be the race of the season tomorrow

Qualifying was great fun. Hopefully the race will also be the same. Mark Webber brushed against the wall of the champions in his final qualifying lap in Q3. Nico Rosberg's car did a small mountaneering stunt in Q2 in the last shecane. Lewis Hamilton drove an absolute on the limit lap. These were the moments of the day for me. Force India at 6 and 9 proves that a ambitious person at the top can really chage a lot.

He's been fined for it. So it'll probably not happen very often or else the stewards will change it from a fine to a grid drop or something.

Force India looked good in qualifying, fingers crossed. Hope both the cars get points in the bag.

I was really impressed by Liuzzi and Hamilton's pace throughout qualifying. Let's hope they can keep up the momentum tomorrow. Also Karun Chandhok (HRT) got a 5 place grid penalty for a gearbox change during Saturday practice, which probably didn't affect his chances anyway.

It was nice to see Kovalainen's Lotus come within 0.2 secs of Kobayashi's BMW Sauber in Q1. Lotus has definitely improved a lot since the beginning of this season and are certainly the best amongst the newcomers this season.

Nice race.

I am sad looking at the Mercedes GP of Schumacher. Sadly lost out on scoring points.

But what a great fight by Force India I loved the aggression, Dr. VJM will be mightily pleased

Undoubtedly Schumi's got pace and aggression, His move on Massa showed it, But Mercedes GP are yet to give him a fighting car. Hope it comes soon. Schumi still has some scope to get some points, if the stewards slap some penalty on Kubica's pit lane entry. That was horrendous.

^Once the race is over I doubt if any points would be docked. Most probably the results will stand and it will be a monetary fine or some starting penalty for next race

Remember last time around, Schumi was penalised with drop down on the grid after the race results were over.

I seriously feel Kubica should be fined some 6 grid places

Double joy for me, Force India will go some more places up and Schumi will atleast be within points.
