Richard Burns - No More ! Sad Loss

Dear Friends ,
With great sadness i would like to inform you that Richard Burns, The 2001 FIA World Rally Champion, passed away on Friday the 25th of November 2005.

He was diagnosed with an astrocytoma, a form of brain tumour. he had had surgery earlier this yearand that had alleviated some of the symptoms of his illness and enabled him to remain active. At Castle Combe in August he attended a parade of the rally cars that he drove throughout his career and was touched by the warmth of the reception he received. However there was to be no miracle and in recent days he lapsed into a coma.

He passed away peacefully. His partner Zoe, family and close friends were at his bedside.

I would like to pay my condolences to his family and pray that god gives them strength to take this huge loss .

A sad end in the history of Motorsports and a he would be missed greatly .

Anyone who would like to send messages should address them to the memorials pages on this website or click the link bellow

It all started when he was driving to the first WRC 2004 event in his Porsche along with Marku Martin (i thinks) when he suddenly blacked out on the motorway. If it was not for Markku's reflexes, he would have caused a horrific accident. Things went downhill after that
