Great going!!!

Glad Peugeot finally sorted out their problems with the 307
I remember him commenting during the last rally when he lost his power steering "im fed up with this car...grrr"

Marcus is definitely the most agressive driver around

cheers!

Peugeot called to FIA after checks on Gronholm car
Thu 20 May, 2004 11:37

LONDON, May 20 (Reuters)
- Twice world champion Marcus Gronholm could be stripped of his Cyprus Rally win and lose his lead in the world championship rankings following technical checks on his Peugeot car.

After receiving a report of the checks, the FIA have summoned representatives from Gronholm's Peugeot team to a meeting at their headquarters in Paris next week, motorsport's governing body said in a statement on Thursday.

The FIA said earlier this week the final classification of the rally would not be confirmed until checks had been completed on the Peugeot 307s of Finland's Gronholm and team mate Harry Rovanpera, who finished fifth.

The Citroens of French runner-up Sebastien Loeb and Spain's Carlos Sainz, who came fourth, were also being examined.

"Further to a report received from the FIA Technical Delegate following the 2004 Cyprus Rally, representatives of Marlboro Peugeot Total have been called to a Stewards meeting at the FIA Headquarters in Paris on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 1100 hours," the FIA said.

Gronholm, world champion in 2000 and 2002, moved to the top of the world championship rankings following Sunday's victory with 34 points, one point ahead of Loeb, with Estonia's Markko Martin third on 32 points.

Schumacher has done that, Ferrari has done that, Why not Peugeot ! ?
(dont mean no offence, but I wont put it off cards.. specially considering the fact that 307 was almost down and out and they finished with 14 points suddenly in the most difficult rally for the cars?).

right.
it's not like the 307 was never competitve...jus had a few reliability problems
Also MArcus has won this rally before in 2002

so it's no big surprise to me that they won this rally.

Petter was unfortunate. And I jus realised his potentiel....he's a good fighter!

Citroën cleared, Peugeot to meet the FIA
Cyprus Rally results to be confirmed on Wednesday

Everything turned out to be fine for Citroën: the Xsara WRC passed the final inspection following the Cyprus Rally without any problem. The water pumps of the Xsaras were found to be legal despite earlier doubts. Sebastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz will not be disqualified from the Cyprus Rally.

The situation might be different for Peugeot. The French team will have to meet the FIA on Wednesday 26 May at 11:00 in Paris to answer the stewards' questions.

The final results of the Cyprus Rally will be official following this meeting. Either Gronholm and Rovanpera's results will be confirmed or they might be disqualified. If the two Peugeot drivers are disqualified, Sebastien Loeb would be the new winner, followed by Markko Martin and Carlos Sainz.

That's rather sad as I'm a Peugeot / Gronholm fan. But then, that's life.

This though is the closest i've seen in WRC in quite sometime. My fingers this year are firmly crossed. Both the top drivers are my favourites (as well as Solberg). Its going to be a close call this year. I am just not in the position to support one over the other. WRC has got darned exciting....

.... hope FIA doesnt play spoilsport with such decisions though. Keep the nailbiting finishes and points fury on and see how many people will start watching WRC.

'Copy that!' Revv..
Though I'd love to see Carlos Sainz get atleast in the top 3 (by the season end, still a long way to go..)
