Well, as they say, its that time of the year - the "silly saeson" as they call it - when the Formula 1 Teams do their annual jousting for drivers and drivers try their best to get a race seat.

Lets simplify things for T-BHPians shall we. All the latest driver/team changes for the 2005 season will be listed in this thread making it easy for us to keep track of whats happening.

Scuderia Marlboro Ferrari - Dream team stays the same for 2005
M. Schumacher
R. Barrichello

Renault - Contenders for 2005??
F. Alonso
G. Fisichella ****NEW***

BMW.Williams - All change here, and needed too.
M. Webber ***NEW***
J. Button ****NEW****

Mclaren Mercedes - Back to their winning days?
K. Raikkonen
JP. Montoya ***NEW***

BAR Honda - Honda's back.
TBA!!! (Surprise move by JB to Williams opens a hot seat)
T. Sato

Sauber Petronas - Junior Ferrari team?
F. Massa
2nd driver yet to be announced

Toyota - A confused lot...
R. Schumacher ****NEW***
R. Zonta ***NEW***

Jaguar Racing - will 2005 be their last year in F1?
K. Klien
TBA
Both drivers yet to be announced although it is likey that Klien will remain with the team thanks to the $10 million red bull money he brings in.

Jordan Cosworth - The rebels of F1
N. Heidfeld
T. Glock ***NEW*** (to be confirmed)
Although here too nothing is confirmed, Heidfeld will continue unless he can find a better seat (Jaguar??) and Timo Glock seems set to take the 2nd seat away.

Minardi - erm...
TBA
TBA
With Minardi, you can never say who will be driving, so I'll leave this blank for now, only to be filled in once they make an official announcement.

Well, there you have it, the 2005 grid as it stands now. Will keep updating as and when I get more info.

Give both these drivers proper and reliable machinery and they'll be right up there with the best. I've always been a Webber fan and I'm sure, next year he'll be slugging it out with MS, Kimi and the other front runners. I'm a little sad that he left Jaguar, but, every man wants to move up in life. Mark's no exception. All the best to him!

P. S. I wouldn't be surprised to see David Coulthard in a Jaguar next year.

I feel that there will be friction in the Mclaren next year....there should be one driver who will be ready to play second fiddle to the other....someone like Barrichello is, in Ferrari

awesome line up isnt it !
pretty evenly matched battles between team mates..

i expect DC to go Jaguar..
Davidson cud get a drive at sauber..
Hope to see Bruni racing in a better car for 2005..deserves it..
wudnt also mind Alex Wurz getting a drive for 2005.. *he's currently McLaren test driver..
remember him getting on the podium in his 1st and GP ?

as for Williams.. they'v said that they will only fill the 2nd seat with an experienced driver.. JV ? Hiedfeld ?

also hoping toyota do a 'BAR' next season !
only time will tell..

Hey papps,

Well, Zonta is replacing CDM for the remainder of the 2004 season as a test to see whether he is good enough for a 2005 race seat. So I put his name there till I hear otherwise.

hey aadix, as much as I'd like to see our flag out there on the grid, the truth is, unless Narain gets some major sponsors to give Minardi the millions needed to get a race seat, I don't see him in an F1 car, not next year and not ever.

He is a good driver, but the fact remains that he is not good enough to earn a proper race seat on his performance alone. He has won just 1 Formula Nissan race in 3 years of racing. Thats not the kind of performance teams look for when hiring for F1.

The only way he can make it is if he got backing the way Alex Young did from the Malaysian Govt. But we all know that in India, there's no chance of our Govt. doing anyting close to that.

Trulli has yet to confirm where he would be driving. Now that there's a seat at Jaguar and BAR he may go there as well.
