Hi guys, I just rolled in today into T-bhp. I am not exactly young, but I am not that old either. Middle-age, I dont know, unless I am planning to live till 76!
I am in the tourism industry, working freelance as a tourist escort and tour guide for incoming French speaking hapless tourists. I have a North India Guiding licence but in our lingo, North India means Rajasthan, Rajasthan and Rajasthan and of course Agra which is east west north south anyways.
My driving history dates back to 1981 when I started driving my father's Enfield Bullet and in 1983 when a friend of mine let me drive his father's Ford Prefect with me having zero experience in driving a car and I managed it without a crash. Then my folks bought a FIat 1100D with the loan that companies those days used to give to its employees so that my father could boast of upward mobility. I started warming my hands and feet on his Fiat too. I had pretty much warmed up on his Bullet already.
I drove that Fiat from Calcutta to New Delhi and it survived Indian roads of 1998; I just lost some breaks, some break fluid, the silencer and a bit of the suspension on the way. I kept driving this baby till about 5 years back when I bought a second hand Sonata import that I strutted around for effect, huge car, with huge problems and once it even caught fire!! I dumped it and finally I got myself a Fiat Sienna ELX 1.6 in Oct 2003. Superb car, feels like having tank like safety, rips without a roar, pretty satisfied though lots of people her say, this car is no good, Fiat has host of problems, well for the moment I am holding on to her.
I also drive two wheelers. I used to have a Bullet of my own. Then I got myself a Pulsar 180 which I am now putting up for sale coz I have got myself a Comet GT250!
On a weekend, when I have nothing to do, I like visiting showrooms and trying out new cars, ripping them across open stretches. Till date my personal odometer says about 80,000kms in India and around 20,000 kms in Europe in various models of various makes, mostly French though.
I hope that I will be accepted well, and I plan to learn and mix around in the forum. So here goes...
