Why am I here Hi,
I have been visiting the forum for last two years, I always wondered as to why no 'intro' thread on it. Well! I never managed to reach to the bottom of the home page, the place where it is located. Every time I decided to check out something on the forum, I would start and then wander off in its vast array of discussions and ideas, until a few days ago when an intro popped up in current tab of the app on my mobile.
I have been a member now for a little more than two months and first of all a big ‘hello’ and thanks for letting me in, it feels real good to be formally in midst of fellow petrol heads.
Iam a man in uniform with specialisation in mech engineering. Been in the profession for quite a while now, was a keen petrol head till about 10 years ago then got domesticated and other things grew over till I came across this forum and things started changing back to the way they were earlier and that is why I am here.
In so far as motoring experince goes, been driving around for 35 years, driven through almost whole of India. Memorable drives were from Ludhiana to Rohtang in Aug 1983 on a Priya scooter, Wellington to Chandigarh with wife and two kids, done over 21 days of May 1997 in a M800. Tezpur-Tawang- and a little yonder. Tezpur - Nagpur via Gangtok, North Sikkim, Bagdogra, Panagarh, KKD and Sambalpur with same vehicle and in same configuration. Plenty of dune bashing in sands of Jaiselmer in 1994-96. Driven almost all vehicles that I could lay my hands upon which include some really heavy stuff like TATRA, Kraz and ZIL. To my credit, at the cost of sounding pompous, nil major breakdowns or accidents during any of my forays, my motto ‘ Treat your machine the way you treat your pet, it will stay as loyal’.
What I look forward to on the forum is some good tech discussions regarding two problem pets I own, an Indica DLS and an XUV. Travelogous are all time favorites and will always remain that way. My other love is golf so would be equally keen to participate in discussions on the game.
