Greetings

A Good Morning to all my fellow petrolheads. I cannot describe the pleasure and joy of being a part of this family. Many more feelings coming inside my head/heart but would like to introduce my self first :

Hello, Himanshu here from Bangalore. Been here since last December for profession. I am a Marketing and Sales Executive in Soul Space Projects Ltd. (Builders & Developers) and in charge of leasing Retail outlets. Earlier i was in London for 3 years pursuing my higher studies as well as working at Debanhams as a Press Release Editor. What i really loved about London was that every morning i left my house for College/Job, there used to be a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG standing right outside a neighbors door. I used to adore it day and night. I think it was love at first site. (abruptly ending this topic, talking about London makes me sad now).

My Interests and hobbies include Music, Movies and Travelling.

I sincerely follow the rules of wearing a Helmet and putting on the Seatbelt while Riding/Driving.

My first Engine was the Hero Honda Karizma which i bought in December 2003. Second Love was the Swift which my family bought in 2009. My recent one is a troublesome brat known as RE TBTS 2011 model. And, the one i am most proud of.. the one which has the impact on my profile name, i have recently booked a Volkswagen Polo GT TDI and expecting the delivery in this month end.

Really looking forward in reading travelogues and experiences, good and bad (sorry).

Cheers.
( PS. Don't drink and drive )

Re: Greetings

Welcome CalypsoGT

I quite like your profile name.
I have been in the UK for the last 13 years, mainly in Leeds and Warrington, up North, now returning back home as the home soil beckons. I will miss a few things about the UK - like the great roads, the system and rules people follow and all that, but do miss a lot more things in India.
The Polo GT is held in high regard in the UK as well, it is a great vehicle and packs a punch. Do post pictures and ownership threads when ready.
I see that you have picked up the UK influenced way of saying thanks (Cheers).
Wish you plenty of miles of safe driving.
Cheers

Re: Greetings

Thank you for the warm welcome alphadog. About my profile name, its actually what i am going to name my new ride. "Calypso", the Flash Red Volkswagen Polo GT TDI

I started naming my vehicles after i purchased my RE Thunderbird and named it Bart (aka Bart Simpson). Its a troublesome brat with a warm heart. It gives pleasure to ride, and then there is some technical issues which messes up your head.

Re: Greetings

Mine finally arrived yesterday. So busy at work that could not post anything about it. Well the review of the car is provided in the best way possible by "GTO" sir. There is nothing i can add except a few pics and the moment leading to it.

Re: Greetings

Thank you Manju, it was love at first sight when i glared at the Red GT. I knew i had to take the red one. In my past, all the cars my family owned were white. I really wanted to break the rutt. I was going to opt for white as it looked more professional and mature, but i guess i have many upcoming years to sound old n boring :P

Re: Greetings

Welcome to the club of Grand Tourers!

Please do post an ownership thread of your ride - having a personal log always helps. I am glad this forum has a section dedicated towards the cause. You can record all the events (good or bad as the case may be) in your thread in a systematic way with snaps, scans of service records and other experiences. You can show off your new upgrades as well. Members can also share their views on any of the aspects. Take it as your blog.

So welcome aboard! It is an addictive forum, I can tell you that much. Delve deep and you will get to learn a lot of things. The Shifting Gears section is also one of the most happening sections on the forum - cooking, pets, photography, gardening, fragrances, movies, TV serials, gadgets, consumer electronics, DSLRs, computers, laptops, mutual funds, stock markets, credit cards, you name it!

Cheers!

PS: The forum has a set of rules laid down and unlike the other forums where there is a bit of leniency, there’s virtually NONE here. So have a quick glance through them before you begin posting.
