Hi Guys

My name is Raymond and I came across this site by chance when I was browsing the internet for some information on a Baleno my dad owns. I might have come across this site a few years ago but did not look into it or realise what it was all about. Needless to say, I am impressed by the site and the quality allround.

I am originally from Bombay and have basically been away from India since 1984. I visited in 87 and 2001 for a month. I live in the US and when I left India we had 3 cars in my immediate family - a Premier President (my dad's first wife), my Padmini and a Standard 2000 that followed later. I have always been interested in cars and like many of you here spent a lot of time hanging around mechanics and fellow petrol heads. My dad is also an car guy and at 85 still drives and maintains his car as before.

My background is in electronic and automotive technology and I have worked in the field for several years. I have owned all kinds of vehicles over the years and at times had between 8 to 12 cars at any given time. I do not work in the automotive field at present but used to specialise in the automotive electrical/electronic field for many years in 2003 and also recently in 2011/12. I do however work on my own vehicles and have lots of tools and diagnostic equipment left over from the business.

When I visited India in 2001, I checked out a couple of dealers in Pune, including a visit to the Mercedes factory. I still have a lot to learn about how things operate in India and I plan to visit again soon. I may even consider moving back to India and might consider doing something in the automotive field, so I would like to hear from others regarding this possibility.

If anyone needs any info or help with anything technical, do not hesitate to contact me. I have already helped Karl with some info regarding an electronic ignition for his fiats - something I installed myself in my dad's President in 1986. Looking forward to catching up with all things Indian.

PS Apart from automobiles, I am also into hifi, gadgets, computers, electronics and photography to name a few.

Looking forward to it.
