Hi Guys

Hi guys. have been browsing through team-bhp forums for the past few months. I was planning to buy a car and wanted to join team-bhp when I have my (first ) car.I am 23 and I am a software developer(yaa like every body else ....he he he). besides cars I also have interest in Gadgets- digi cams, Victorinox swiss knives , ipods, mobile phones etc etc.
I bought a new Fiat Palio 1.2 Elx this month. I have done 800 Kms on it and I have got my share of goods and Bads with the car. I got a set of Neo alloys for the car yesterday and i was shocked to find rust on the front rim mounts (am not sure whether its the right teminology) and on the edge of the disc . I called up the dealer (Vivek Automobiles , Delhi) and they told me its normal. The car is 20 days old and its a 2006 model .
1.)I want to know whether its normal to find rust like this.
2.)Should I get the rim mounts painted to protect them from rusting.

I couldnt help uploading a pic of the car.

Hey Rishi, the discs getting a light layer of superficial rust is totally normal for all cars if they are left standing still for a day or two. Don't worry about it, it will disappear the minute you first apply the brakes after you get moving.

P.s. Welcome to the club.

was shocked about the same stuff with my ikon as well, but i guess rtech is right cos' i haven't seen any rust lately as the car has been running daily since the last 10-15 days.
