hi to all ,

i am raja shekar, from hyderabad (catching up with other cities)
did my graduation in mech. engg.

My first crush for cars came from classical Ford Mustang, an article in 'the hindu', then the 'Shelby GT 500' from the 'Gone in 60 seconds' , man wat a car it is , an Eleanor type( possibly from 'Helen' or 'Ellen' or 'Elaine'.
Then there is a list of indian cars i like, Contessa (actually its Vaxhaul's Victor from UK); Pugeot 505; Uno; u can a similarity in them the 70's and 80's look in them. and the list goes on......

Currently figuring out how to build a 'dragster', u heard it right, probably the first dragster in india, i wish there are others who compete in making 'the first'. now we are a team of two people. myself the creator and my friend who is good at CAD(Computer Aided Design) software. we have to design the thing from the scratch. yet to finalise on the engine, thinking about a 2000cc petrol engine from a nissan blue bird or from a honda or a toyota, though Honda would be built strong (Leela would agree with me on this count) but getting a nissan would be easier i guess here in hyd.

Also on the paper is a Kart, initial design is over in the CAD. need to be make it on the floor. also need to find an engine, first thought about the engine from bajaj auto 4S RE, its a 175cc 4-stroke engine but very under powered engine, probably the enfield 350cc engine would do but its a heavy engine.

Also planning for the Speed Run 2007 for the dragster, btw, there was a Indian-Open Dragster Class in the SpeedRun 2006, hope it is included this year as well.

So, my dear comrades if any suggestions or feed-back, feel free.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/introd...ing-intro.html
so i am adding some more details.

i got to know about the tbhp from the google.
previously we had a amby, then M800, M800 dx, now 2003 indica V2.

also had a kine zx, and a work horse cd100 ss, which is still in the stable.
planning to soup-up my cd100ss, with the styling of HH-sleek or kinetic gf-125. also put in a K&N; free-flow exhaust; and so on, there is no end......

Maybe you'd like to start a new thread, so that people won't nistake this to be an intro thread, instead of technical.

What 2 litre engine do you plan to use off the Bluebird? The most potent is the SR20DET, which, in stock form, cannot be matched in power by the B20 or the F20 Hondas. If you find one of those Nissans, lucky you.

How do you plan to run a custom chassis? Do you have the requisite tools and resources to build a frame capable of handling 200 bhp and 30 kgm of torque?

MODERATORS: Can you spin this off into a separate thread, please?

viper, i was expecting you to be the first one to give a feed-back and i got it.
i actually did post a new thread similar to this one, but was discouraged by other bhpians, infact that thread was closed !!!!..
ok, i agree the thread could be more appropriate if placed in extreme motor sports, but the reason to close the thread was something else.... " This thread is quiet unnecessary. There're plenty of info posted about Speed runs earlier in the forum ". If somebody read the post properly, the emphasis was on 'dragster' not on speedrun.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...speed-run.html

Anyways, but still i have started another thread in the extreme motorsports, but my thread i not finally posted on the website, I even sent a message through 'contact us' but didnt get any response.

I appologise if this reply is offending some-one, but please somebody look into the matter.

Even though i dont have the required tools, but i have access to those tools of a local three wheeler manufacturer ( also a coach builder).
Currently the plan to build the chassis is in design phase in a CAD (computer aided design) software, later this design will tested whether it can take the load of around 200bhp and torque of around 300 Nm (around 30 kgm) in finite element analysis software.

you are right viper, SR20DET is one of the best engines, in later models this engine produced around 250 hp !!!.
But I doubt the availabilty of this engine (i will lucky to lay my hands on it, though). Instead what i am expecting is a CA18DE but CA18DET is more desirable (supposedly the most sought after engine after the FJ20ET that powered the legendary DR30 Skyline DOHC-RS).
I have yet check out with the cars here in hyderabad.

@ kkr2k2 - welcome to team bhp. enjoy your stay here. drive safe since your planning to make a dragster. it would be better if you can discuss this in the modification section. ( or search the section for any similar threads. )

take care.

Look, if you are only aiming for a couple of drag runs, chassis flex is not that great an issue. Granted, it will flex. But just a couple of runs will not affect your daily driveability, since there is no question of the latter.

I doubt the availibility of good engine in HYD. If you give us an idea of your budget, there are people here who can offer you opinions and options.
