Team-BHP: To be finally coming home!

Hello everyone. It's an honour to finally count myself as a part of this wonderful and vibrant community of petrolheads! It's been a long time coming and believe me or not, I actually took my girlfriend out for desserts on 9th when I received my 'Membership Approved' email!

Well, I could hardly remember any singular incident which has been instrumental in setting off my love for automobiles, however, I can recollect one feeble memory of a 5 year old me sniffing at the exhaust pipe of my uncle's Kawasaki Bajaj KB100, because well, I used to absolutely love the sound of the exhaust and the smell of petrol when he brought that beauty to life everyday!

Being born in the early 90s in Calcutta, I'm dangerously close to up-shifting to my 30s, which will expect me to live life more predictably. But I don’t think I'm making good progress there because - I still love my Hot Wheels collection like crazy, I fall in love with every bimmer I see on the road, and maybe I would even prefer working on my car to see it shine on a sunny weekend rather than spending a boisterous evening partying with friends.

So far, my career checkpoints have indeed been quite predictable to what your typical Indian bourgeoisie family would want their offsprings to do: pursue engineering, get a job, work till you get bored, and finally do an MBA. So by day, you'll find me engrossed in making pitch decks and proposing turnaround solutions to clients, but I'll occasionally double up as an artist who loves sketching portraits of my favorite celebrities. My garage currently consists of a Maruti Suzuki Baleno (2016), a Honda CB Hornet (2016) and a Honda Activa 3G (2015), and I aspire to own a BMW 330i Sport someday because that's what true love looks and sounds like to me.

I really look forward to interacting with fellow BHPians and take considerable time soaking into the rich, diverse and exhaustive repository of knowledge this forum epitomizes (I need to order my LTD stickers first!). So there goes the first photos of my wheelers on Team-BHP and here's hoping for a journey of a lifetime ahead.

Which petrolhead hasn't enjoyed the smell of petrol? As a kid I used to look forward to petrol pump visits.

Don't worry. I'm in my mid 40s and still crazy about my car, bicycles, 1:18 models, Hot Wheels and more. Lots of us spend whatever free time we have on the weekends polishing our cars.

I guess we are all forces of the same calling but only in different doses and forms!

Welcome on board, from one Bong (Sen) to another.

Nonsense rhymes with bongSENse, so I'm reminded of meeting a gentleman many years ago, who greeted me with "You must be Dr. Sane", and my junior piped up from behind with "Yes Sir, and the rest are Insane"

Since you are from Kolkata, you'll soon discover a very active bunch of BHPians in that city.

You might as well be prepared to take that whole Kolkata group out to dinner - I'm sure everyone there is reading this! If not dinner, cha + singara / kochuri will do!!

That's quite an introduction bongSENse, nice way to highlight your artistic bend. That handle name is so easy to pronounce but it's only when you write that you make some real SENse out of it! Kawasaki KB100 is the bike that I first drove and learnt to ride, quite a stunner it was back in the days when Bajaj super and chetak ruled the roost.

Have a wonderful time here just as I am sure everyone else is having here. See you around.

Regards.

I like how we from Bengal know how to link everything from the food point of view. And what's a ROADIE without being a FOODIE

Well, that would be real nice, knowing the foodie in all of us in this part of the world

That is quite a story sir! Thank you for the welcome. Honestly, have been an avid follower of this forum, and you are one of the members I've always had an admiration for. Read up so many posts by you - from that epic thread on maintaining your ride to driving down to Guwahati before parting with your Swift to some Scorpio adventures - it's a wonderful feeling to be finally connect!

Would be glad to meet with fellow BHPians in and around Kolkata (till the time I'm here atleast). Singara, Kochuri, Jilipi, Lebu cha, you name it - on me, guaranteed!!

Thank you Blackpearl. Ever since I've landed here (as a non-member initially), your Travelogues have been one of my favourites! Absolutely adore your Bolero and Thar! Frankly, I have always been intrigued to know how you manage such long stretches of continuous driving - hope you'll let me in on your secret sauce once we meet!!

Thank you ABHI_1512! To be honest, I had a lot of thoughts going around for a unique username. It had to be quirky, had to carry a part of my name, and had to drop a caricature about me. So that is how bongSENse was born!

I was head-over-heels for the KB 100 - Sadly don't see a lot of them on the streets like we see RX100s. My uncle bought it at INR 33,000 sometime in the 90s and had to part with it at a throwaway price when the injector failed!

Absolutely! For us Bongs, gastronomy takes precedence over literally anything (ummm...maybe not so sure about a good afternoon siesta!)
