Hello from Trivandrum

Hello to all Team BHPians,
I am Ganesh Chandran from Trivandrum. I am a beginner when it comes to driving vehicles as I am only got my learners license as of now. But my love for cars started right from my childhood when I would force my father to take me out everyday on his Kawasaki KB100.

The vehicles that my family own/owned are:

1. Maruti 800 - Was the first car in the family . Bought used , it was our trusted workhorse for 7 years , mostly used for monthly trips to Uttarakhand.
2. Kawasaki KB100 - My father's first bike , now lying in a workshop due to lack of spares . My plan is on restoring this beast if money permits.
3. Bajaj Platina - Bought after my family returned to Trivandrum , the bike still serves us to this day . Superb reliability and my current ride.
4. Swift Dzire - Bought in 2010, it is my father's current car. Bought new, the vehicles has been kept mint , covering only 68,000 km. Might be replaced in 2-3 years for a safer car (Vxi Variant so no airbags).
5.Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark - I am not exaggerating if I say that this is the most reliable vehicle in my family's vehicle ownership. Contrary to Royal Enfield complaints , this has never broken down , nor had any electronic issues. Bought in 2012, the vehicle still starts on its first kick with no hesitation . Only problems faced were regarding plastic quality, but that's bearable . This bike introduced my father to long distance touring . Its now seen Kerala, Most tourist areas of Maharashtra, and a journey to Ladakh.

I would like to thank all the moderators for allowing me to join this incredible family of enthusiasts . I am hoping to contribute to the forum in the best way possible.

The KB100 restoration would be an epic thread if you can undertake it.

Love the 800. Even our first car was an 800 and have a lot of memories associated with it. Do share some pictures of it if you have.

Also, do let us know about your Thunderbird ownership experience.

Glad to see you have the KB100 around still. Do restore it if possible.
My Dad had a KB100, have a few pics and faint memories of it. Was the last bike he owned, sold it in late 90s.

Pretty sure by the time the Dzire is replaced you would either be armed with the knowledge here, or would be left confused with it, when choosing the next car.
