From then on, my husband took on the role of a well-versed teacher, and me, that of a kindergarten student; and he took over the mission to instill knowledge of vehicles into my brain.

Earlier I knew only two types of cars : the smaller ones I called "Cars", and the larger ones I called "Jeep".

Welcome to Team-Bhp @ MrsCarEnthusiast

Your husband is a true Team-BHPian as he has commendable patience.

During my initial days of marriage, my wife mentioned a very comfortable car (apart from Ambassador & Maruti 800/Alto - the cars she recognizes) that her BFF owns. The name she told me was ATS car and I had to google for a week to understand that it was Toyota Etios.

As of now, she is preparing for her driving tests. Not because she loves driving but she needs a driving license. The funny part: the trainer told ABC for Accelerator, Brake and Clutch and for the whole 3 days she thought Accelerator was Clutch. Fortunately, the trainer thought it was a language issue as he spoke in Kannada and my wife is not well versed in it.

When I try to correct it, she argued that it should be CBA not ABC and I had to humbly agree to that point.

Now, my 7-year-old son is giving her Gyan on cars. I am enjoying it!!!

Welcome to the forum MrsCarEnthusiast!

Loved the "Intro" post all the way! Now I can show your post to my partner as well and prove that I am not the only person on planet earth pointing to random cars on the road and talking their specs while on a romantic drive.

I am feeling ecstatic for Mr.CarEnthusiast that he was able to instigate your interest to this extent that you decided to be one among us. I am sure he will treat this as one of his sweetest achievements.

I just woke up at 5 AM and first thing I wanted to check was if the husband's name has been revealed. Need I say more?

Your wife seems to be a pro, I am just an amateur.... I have miles to go before I can write something of technical worth in this forum.😁

And as far as automotive preferences go... I grew up believing that my dad's Wagon R was the world's coziest car ( My heart still leaps when I see a Red Wagon R on the road... The first crush is hard to forget).

Since then, Jazz, Tata Manza, Kwid and City are the other cars that I have been accustomed to. I guess I need to enrich my experiences further in this arena.

What a debut. Your first ever post goes to the top 25 thanked posts ever. Surely a first for Team BHP. My wife's enthusiasm for our cars stops at brown one and grey one. Mind you she is better educated than me, teaches at IITs and IIMs but car IQ stops at colour. Thank you for a most entertaining first post.

Welcome aboard @MrsCarEnthusiast

My wife was in the same state when we hitched up in 1995. Now she is an avid car nut and excels in hunting down obscure trails from Google. And planning our many road trips with all manner of remote places to visit.

But she steadfastly refuses to drive!!

The post gave me (and so many others) a much needed laugh!
I especially lost it after the "Innova" debacle

After some OSINT about "MrCarEnthusiast", I would like to ask why Corolla was not mentioned .

Do like if I am on the right track.

Re: Being married to a Team-BHPian

What a refreshing introduction. Welcome to the most genuine forums about cars, bikes and many things.
When I was reading this it reminded me of an incident. A friend of mine was a die hard bike enthusiast and his wife was completely opposite. He wanted to buy one of those naked bikes. He convinces his wife to visit the showroom and the sales person shows the couple the bike.
As my friend was drooling over the bike, his wife remarks:
“Where’s the rest of the bike?”

The relationship with Corolla was during the carefree untethered bachelor days ...
I hadn't entered the picture then 😁

Re: Being married to a Team-BHPian

Welcome aboard and thanks for a great self introduction. Gotta admire your spunk when it comes to a new BHPian spouse and his love for cars. Well, as for Jr we hope to see him onboard once the little one is old enough to type

Gotta make the Mrs read your self intro. She kinda still goes ho-hum and nods sagely when I point out car stuff to her even after decades of marriage.

Re: Being married to a Team-BHPian

Welcome to the gang!!!

That’s quite an introduction – dhamakedaar I must say. Your better half needs a special mention for his patience and turning you into an automobile genius.

I have been driving for many years before my marriage in my trusted WagonR. Made many solo trips from Bangalore and continue to do so.

Everytime my family raised the topic of my marriage; my biggest worry was will my future family understand my passion? Or will I have to give it all up. Considering I come from a family where a car is a medium to transport someone from Point A to Point B, only I know how many years it took to convince them of how much I enjoy it. Will I have to do it all over again?

When we started knowing each other, I realized we have nothing in common – He is the silent listener I was the chatter box, He likes fish I like chicken, He likes mountains I like beach. But, the only thing common between us was our passion to drive. The eagerness and the excitement on his face when I shared my solo travel stories made me feel so relieved. And it’s with the same childlike happiness he would share his travel stories in his Santro to Rohtang, to Kanyakumari, to Gujarat, to Arunachal. Our discussions were centered around cars and travels, and occasionally about our future

Over a decade of our marriage, and there never has been a dull moment whenever we are on the highways. That’s the beauty of being with a ‘livetodrive’ member (well, that’s his TBHP handle too!)

On my multiple solo trips, along with all the stares and the glare one question I come across frequently from strangers / members I meet on Expeditions ‘How did your husband allow you to drive all alone so far?’ Little do they know, that he is the driving force behind keeping my passion alive. Anytime, I think of a long drive He seems to be over enthusiastic in plannings and bookings and researching what all can I explore on the route.

Thank you @livetodrive and all the better halves for your support and encouragement and making this community so inclusive!!

Hoping to meet you soon @MrsCarEnthusiast!

Re: Being married to a Team-BHPian

Really good introduction and no surprise that it is the most thanked first post. I was pretty curious to know who MrCarEnthusiast is and now I figured out who it is. I wanted give a PM conformation but I'm still a newbie so I can't.

I don't want spoil the surprise to others, all I want to say is MrCarEnthusiast's username starts with a S. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The ONE!

We all love the thread and it will forever remain etched in our memories for years to come! But, one question that still intrigues our mind, "Who is the legend behind @MrsCarEnthusiast?"

Unmasking the Dark Knight

Alright! It is high time for the folks to get their faith rewarded! Thereby, picking the fragments, connecting the dots and here we go...

Well, the bloke seems to be enjoying and even has left a subtle clue so that someone would trace him. Refer the pic below,

Re: Being married to a Team-BHPian

Welcome to the Forum MrsCarEnthusiast. and a great intro thread.

We are all sure you will also find this forum a mine of information on everything on wheels and everything which is not on wheels as well

The overwhelming welcome messages you are getting shows how all the Mr.CarEnthusiasts in this forum want to see from their respective Mrs too.

Having said that, the "real" Mr.CarEnthusiast is very lucky to have someone who can speak and mainly "understand" his "language"
But as the saying goes, its Mars and Venus and some of our members will do try to keep it that way.

Do have a Mrs back home who always feels that it was my second marriage with her, if you know who the first one is.

She is also the one who just enjoys and feels safe on just riding shotgun with me.
Of course she applies brakes on me when she sees my reaction to some of the "brilliant drivers" on the road. In fact she even asks me to search in this forum if she is not able to find relevant information in the web. She never misses the smile, excitement in my face when I see my favorite cars, especially when she sees a one with our stickers. In fact she has named this forum as the "cult" :-)

My 9 year old son is fast catching up on the cars than her and am pushing her as well to keep pace with both of us. Will show this thread to her to motivate her.
