From Active Reader to Contributor Hello Petrolheads and like minded fellas !
To start with, would like to thank Moderators for accepting my request and responses required for membership. About myself :
I am still on good side of 40s (42 to be precise) , with latitude and longitude coordinates pointing towards Gurugram (Delhi/NCR) and working as Director in IT services company.
I am avid reader of this excellent forum since 2010 and had 2 unsuccessful attempts to gain membership in 2011 and 2014. Thankfully 3rd time luck has favoured me and I hope I will be able to pen down my experiences related to travel, automobiles, credit cards and mutual funds. Did I just mention my hobbies here? Machines we owned/currently owning in family : - Fiat 1100 : 1987-1990
- 3x Maruti 800s : 1990-1992 , 1992-1994, 1994-2003
- Wagon r Lxi : 2003-2010 - car close to my heart as this was the 1st car I have started driving extensively. It was the last car we owned with black bumpers but 1st car with power steering. I have used this car's registration number in my team-bhp handle '9357'.
- Honda City 2nd Gen Exi : 2007-2012- have landed in IT world in 2006 and gifted myself City in 2007 (was it YOLO moment! ). It was also our 1st Sedan
- Hyundai Santro GL Plus : 2011-2021 - It was my mother's car primarily and has replaced our Wagon r. We wanted a reliable car for her with excellent visibility.
- Maruti Swift Lxi : 2010-2015
- Maruti Alto k10 vxi AMT :2015-2022 - My wife has started learning car but she always had an issue during initial pick up from 1st gear in manual cars. Thankfully, Maruti has launched k10 in AMT avtar and she has learned driving on it. I never liked the gearbox behaviour but had to live with it due to Alto's overall package as compact car, nice AC, good mileage and extremely chuckable nature.
- Nissan Sunny Diesel XL : 2012-2017 - Now this was the car I bought as an replacement of Honda City 2nd Gen and Team-Bhp had major role to play here. I know that Sunny can't be a true replacement of City but there were certain reasons which made me to go ahead with this car. First, I wanted a beater car and at that time Diesel was not de-regularised by Government, so there was a huge difference between petrol and diesel prices. Second, the price point at which Sunny was available was comparable to Dzire. I am 6ft tall and wanted a spacious interior. Third and the most important one, the timing of GTOs blue Sunny's review was the final stamp on my decision.
- Mahindra XUV W6 Automatic 2017-present : Sunny was good but was manual and I have decided to move to automatic due to city traffic and road conditions during monsoon. Test drive of XUV was love at 1st sight. Though I could have afford Fortuner and even did a TD but XUV was superior in every aspect at half a cost. It has replaced Sunny in our garage.
- i10 Nios Sportz 2021-present : Replaced Santro in our garage with Nios as my Mom was happy to be part of Hyundai family.
- Honda City 5th Gen CVT : 2022-present - Replaced my wife's Alto with City. Lovely car for the purpose we bought it.
Thank you everyone, see you all in various forums and discussions. |
