thank you all
im currently in italy but would be coming back to india soon ... m searchin for job opportunities in india right now.
down below you can see a description of how this whole process to design n create this maserati went in the last one year.i hope you people enjoy..!!
we were introduced to this project in summer 2007 and we were given the brief that we had to make an entry level sports coupe
for maserati brand which could sport a possible v8 engine with upto 4 passengers to carry.
out of a class of 18 students in the masters course at istituto europeo di design each student was asked to come with his concept
on the basis of the brief given and hence develop a sports coupe for the maserati brand. each of us worked really hard to get our
inspirations from nature, sculpture, sports, aircrafts, etc, etc. each of us put our minds to grind to get a good concept and then
we did the best to our abilities to put the concept to a car that would represent the historical brand of maserati. keeping in sync
with the history and the image of the brand which made the job for all of us all the more tough and all the more exciting.
from time to time we had our presentations with the chief designers and design directors from maserati and fiat group which actually
owns maserati at the moment who gave us tips and cues on the positive aspects of each design and helped us to take it further.
each of us worked really hard to develop his idea of a new maserati sports coupe to the best that he could with all the help from the
teachers and the visiting faculty of designers.so in all we had 18 different concepts based on different ideas which were scrutinized
in a big presentation where the design directors from maserati and alfa romeo came in to select the 8 ideas that would finally make it
1:4 scaled clay model development stage which was the second phase of the project.
once the initial presentation was over and the 8 ideas for clay modelling were chosen, the whole perception changed and the class was
reorganised into groups to work on each clay model in order to develop the finished scaled model in time for the next big presentation.
we worked in groups over assigned models continously improvising on the shortcomings that were pointed out in them in the earlier
presentations. we sketched continously and worked for hours in our clay modelling labs to get the best possible results for each of those
8 ideas with continous help from our teachers.
then came the big presentation when the time came to finally choose the clay that would be made in 1:1 scale to be displayed at the
geneva motor show and this time around dmytro zyubyairov from ukraine got lucky enough to get his model chosen and david rodriguez from
portugal came in a close second. the chief designers from maserati and alfa romeo who had come in to decide the final chosen models
could not finally make up their mind to pick one out the final two and hence they asked the whole team to pursue both the ideas and develop
them further. the idea from dmytro would take the shape as a 1:1 scale model for geneva motor show while the second idea from david would
take shape as a virtual model.
both the models were to be developed in full detail. while one car was in for being made in full scale exteriors the work started to develop
their precise virtual models and their interiors that would be developed as virtual model and would be exhibit later with the help of a
video. so the whole class was again reorganised, this time into 4 groups 2 of which worked on developing the exteriors of the 2 cars with full
details while the other two groups worked on developing the interiors for the two cars.with time the two projects were developed with everybody
chipping in the best that he could in order to make this project something very memorable for all of us.
this was an opportunity of a lifetime for us to be a part of this team and being able to work for a remarkable brand as maserati.
