Gaurav's introduction to Team BHP

A brief post to Team BHP to introduce myself. I live in San Jose, California and visit India frequently. I have a residence in Delhi and am here for several months on a project.

I consider myself a serious car enthusiast with a good deal of experience in off roading and adventure travel. Jeeps are my passion, and I have two of them in India and one in the U.S.

The Jeeps in Delhi are a 1995 MM340 or CJ3B and a 1999 MM550XDP both of which I bought new and have done a series of modifications over the years. My Jeep in California is a Wrangler with a number of modifications for extreme off roading.

I have participated in the Himalayan Rally and am always planning my next adventure trip. Would like to connect with other folks with similar interests on this forum.

I will make some separate posts for each of my vehicles in the appropriate sub forum later.

Nice to be here, and thanks to team BHP for having a nice website.

Attached are some of my favorite pics of my MM340 from the 1996 Raid.

Welcome aboard,Gaurav.
Good to see another Jeep enthusiast on the forum. The Jeep Wrangler was 1 of two vehicles I was considering getting myself, when I moved to Texas. Somehow,I opted for a sedan at that point.

Take care, and have a fun time here!

Welcome Gaurav, would love to see your contribution in our 4x4 section. BTW, I have seen the 5th photograph somewhere before, can't recall where. Do you have friends in this forum who may have posted that one before?

Gosh, thats a HOT 340....I think I remember this Jeep! Isn't this the only 340 in the country with a Scorpio engine? Guys, I tell you from the stories I have heard. It is a serious offroad machine, and one that goes like stink.

Welcome aboard, Gaurav. Its great to have you with us. How about posting a detailed review on your modifications and some pics of the engine bay? My Classic is currently under the process of getting an XD3P engine. Would love to share tips.

You are correct. This beast has a Scorpio engine plus a lot more. The heads have been ported & polished, fuel map revised, oversized intercooler, high flow edm polished injectors, variable boost to +15 psi over stock, electric cooling fan with aluminum race radiator, k&n air filter with free flow exhaust. I am hesitant to make horsepower claims without a dyno test, but I can tell you it is faster than my Wrangler with a 190 hp, 4.0 liter petrol engine.

Oh yeah, It also has a nitrous injection set up.

Attached is a couple of pics of the engine for all the gearheads on the forum to drool over.

I will try to do a detailed right up on the build up sometime in the future.

Cheers,

I wanted to attach a couple more pics of my other jeeps. The first is a 1999 MM550XDP that is mechanically stock but has a metal body and a/c to serve as my daily driver in Delhi. I rides pretty nice but is a handful when it comes to parking.

The other pic is my Jeep Wrangler in California. It is a 4.0 L with a full aftermarket 4" suspension lift, 35 inch tires, and a whole list of other mods that are particular to Wranglers. It is a pretty hard core rock crawler, and I have done the Rubicon Trail in California a couple of times in this Jeep.

Cheers,
