Hi,
I've recently moved from to Bangalore after living in the US for 9 years.
I grew up in Delhi where my friends and i used to spend loads of time discussing cars and exhibiting our own self-professed expertise. I was tired of people comparing cars primarily based on mileage and so made a simple website in 1996 listing and comparing the cars available then - needless to say it was significantly smaller that todays lists.
In delhi we (basically, my parents!) owned the following cars:
1983 Toyota Corolla hatchback (
Toyota Corolla E70 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
1994: Maruti 800 (stolen in 1995)
1995: '93 Maruti 1000 (replaced the 800)
1996: Maruti 800
1998: Honda City 1.3
2000: Toyota Qualis
In the US I've owned the following cars:
2000: '87 Honda Accord (bought it in for $3000)
2001: '00 Audi A4 (great deal on 1 year old car)
2004: '01 VW Beetle (my wife bought it 2nd hand in college)
2006: BMW 325i (custom ordered from germany).
After we moved back to India in June, we spent a lot of time trying to figure out what car to buy and team-bhp was an invaluable resource (i'll post more about this). I started off with the 4 door sedans (City, Verna, Fiesta, Aveo) and even though we liked the City ZX the most, I couldnt bring myself to buy it with the impending launch of the new one, especially since it fixes most of my gripes with the ZX. We checked out the Innova but decided it couldnt be our primary car, and we did a complete switch and looked at smaller but spacious cars. I test drive the Getz, the Fabia and the Swift and finally narrowed down on the Getz GVS 1.3.
We're currently looking at an Innova(V) as a second car, so waiting for the new facelifted version.
