Hey this is Sandeep here from Bangalore...

Hi All,

This is Sandeep, 29 from Bangalore. I am really excited to be a part of this community. I had been browsing through the various forums here for the past few weeks, got addicted to it in no time and decided that I need to be a part of this. It got me a couple of attempts to get myself registered but it goes on to show that I am part of a community that consists of serious automobile/travel enthusiasts.

I was born and brought up in Bombay but shifted to Bangalore in 2006 to work for an IT firm over here. This was after short stints in various cities like Mangalore, Gurgaon and London. This enabled me to travel a lot ( especially in North India and Europe ) that I am so very fond of. Got married last year which means I have a permanent travel companion now. My first car was a Santro Xing bought in 2005 in Gurgaon but unfortunately ( you wouldnt believe this ) it got stolen the very next day after I bought it. I currently own a Tata Indica Diesel ( Turbo version ) bought in early 2007. I am still looking forward to the day when I'll finally own the Gypsy.

Regards,
Sandeep

Welcome Sandeep, I myself was allowed into the forum only 3 weeks ago, and its been great. You'll surely meet a lot of other car and jeep enthusiasts over here. And sorry to hear about your santro, but you got yourself the indica turbo which is a much better replacement in my opinion.See you around.

Welcome Sandeep. You will enjoy your stay here.

And your craving to own a Gypsy will grow a million folds and you may just have one before you even reach 50 posts. Just visit the 4x4 forums.

Sad to hear about the Santro theft.

Thanks for the Welcome Note...

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the welcome notes. With regards to my story about the stolen car, I had parked my car outside of my house in Gurgaon ( a rented independent house in Sec-14 ). Those who have been in Gurgaon would know that Sec-14 is one of the busiest places in Gurgaon especially with my house being on the Shopping complex road. My car got stolen in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon. Ironically, I was supposed to be out the entire day on my car but I just returned back home in the afternoon for a couple of hours to catch the final moments of an Ashes test in 2005. This was 3 pm and by the time the match ended at around 5, i went out again and to my horror, the car was gone.

Post this, it was a long harrowing phase for me to claim the insurance back. It took me around 8 months for the same but I got my money back. I feel its much better if something like this happens to get the insurance amount back rather than having the car traced out in a battered condition.

Regards,
Sandeep

Were you able to claim the entire amount of the car? Which Insurance company was it?

What I lost was 5% standard deduction + registration charges + the interest amount that I had keep paying to the bank till the case was settled. While the price that I had paid for the Santro was 3.7L, I got back 3.1L. So lost around 60K in the process.

I would say that you were one of the lucky ones. I know people who had to wait more than that for the amount.

Welcome Sandeep!

Your experience is perhaps the last form of excitement for car enthusiasts like in this forum. It should be more about acceleration, modifications, the sounds from the ICE and more.

Well, once again welcome and will be in dialogue sooner or later since we have arrived here. Thank you Moderators.

Have a nice weekend!
