Falling In Love ... Linea

Dear Team

I started researching on a new car 10 days back and bumped on Team BHP.
After spending more then 10 cumulative hrs I have little doubt that this forum is one of the most unbiased place to look for opinions and do research.

Just to share my background; I head APAC business for a software company and used to drive a Maruti 800 for past 9 years (my first Car)

It was time to look at a new car.

After deciding my budget I started fishing for knowledge.

My decision came to deciding between:
- Linea (Petrol / Diesel)
- SX4
- Fiesta
- Verna (Not Really for looks)
- Manza (Yes I thought I should look at it)

My deciding factors (goals were)
- Image
- Comfort (I do a lot of driving myself - 80 kms a day)
- Style and Uniqueness
- FE
- Budget arounf 8L

After the first level research the cars left were:
- Linea (Petrol / Diesel)
- SX4

I will just share my reasons of rejection also:
Manza - I TD manza petrol and linea diesel back to back.
What put me off was the quality of interiors and Driving pleasure.
I am 6ft+ (and so is my dad) and indeed manza had more space in the back seat. But we were also comfortable in linea back seat and for sheer quality of interiors and experience of the drive I let go of manza.

Fiesta -
Kept reading that its a power horse in this segment. Did not TD it for the comfort and interiors part of it. Linea had scored more.

Verna -
Did not appeal to me as a car. It was amazing that this was a factor. I have started to believe buying a car is like falling in love. OR as Olvander said in Harry potter "Its the car that chooses you not otherwise."

Decision between Linea and Sx4.
First it was a fight between linea petrol and Sx4 petrol and by all logic I was deciding on SX4. But then I thought if I could stretch by budget a little bit I could go for linea diesel. To make it more logical I did the Petrol Vs Diesel calculation and made myself happy that I would save.

Fact of the matter is ... I had fallen in love and was just convincing myself all this while that it is a good car. Team BHP reviews played its part.

And here I am ... finally decided that it will be a linea emotion diesel. Will be handing over the booking amount tomorrow and hopefully get the car in 4 - 5 days.

Will surely be putting up my experience and pics on the forum.

All the best and I look forward to interact more on the car with the team here.

I am also looking forward to get in touch with linea owners in Del / Gurgaon just to make sure that we know each other as there are not many of us around

P.S> Somehow choosing a linea for me was like choosing a MAC over a PC. Dont know how many feel that way. Jist - If you are a linea user try a mac.

I hope TATA's A.S.Cs don't end up being the villain in your love story.

Seriously, Linea is a brilliant car.
Looks - Check
Power (Read adequate) - Check
Space - Check
VFM - Check
Generous Equipment list - Check
Reliability - Check
Service Quality -
Parts Quality -

You can fill in those two after a few months of owning the car.

Don't get me wrong, I've owned a Linea MJD for the last one year. And I've never regretted buying it....except when I have to drive into a TATA A.S.C/Dealer. Let's just say 'quality service' is a lost art as far as they are concerned.

Sorry if I sound a bit blunt here. Just be prepared to get mediocre after-sales service and you'll be able to enjoy your car to the fullest!

Red! It was a close fight between Silver and Red.

Congrats for your Linea Booking!

The after sales service and parts availability are getting much better. You will soon see the testimony in my ownership thread.

Congrats bhatia on your decision for buying Linea. I own a Minimal Grey Emotion pk MJD. The overall experience is good. Ive not faced much problems with the service or the performance. Of course there can be glitches, which is very common to all the brands. Never mind those. Go forward and we are expecting an initial ownership experience. All the best.

Congrats and all the very Best Bhatia.
ASC is not bad but they are not great either. They are definetely improving by leaps.

I own Emotion petrol and am satisfied with the car despite few hitches i had.
Overall, i am sure you will enjoy owning the beauty.

All the very Best !

That's a great choice..post some pictures soon. Do not bother about the a.s.s. across brands/dealers, it is the same story, +/- a few points. If you really want a good dealer providing good service, you need to first select the city, then a dealer and then finally the car that dealer is selling, not the other way round;-}

Safe driving!

Hi Srikanth

Its a emotion ... not the pk. Though Blue and me was appealing. I did not want to spend another 60- 80k on just that. Air bags and alloy wheels were not a factor.
