Hello

Was delighted to stumble across this gathering of car enthusiasts in India. I am a law student in Delhi and have been mad about cars for longer than I can remember.

I drive a Palio 1.2 which witnesses some enthusiastic driving when Delhi traffic permits (mostly Saturday and Sunday mornings). Hope to get to know loads of fellow car enthusiasts through this forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Given the state of the litigation system in India, I hope none of you ever need my advice, but I shall be happy to oblige if you do.

I have gone through the rules for posting. Dont worry, I'm a real stickler for rules! Here is a pic of the old stallion:

jkdas- offhand I dont know what the Motor Vehicles Act has to say about noise pollution. However,a fundamental civil law principle is that you must use what is your own so as not to interfere with other's enjoyment of thier property. A similar principle applies in public places. If you were to set up a loudspeaker in a public square and blare pop bhangra into the wee hours, it would be a 'nuisance' and punishable as such.

Further, the Supreme Court has given various guidelines qua sound pollution, against the use of air horns and the recent absurd one by Former CJ Lahoti that cars must not honk at crossings at night so as to 'disturb the peace'.

If music were played loud enough to cause discomfort or incoveneience to other road users, the Thulla, representing as he does, the majesty of the law certainly had a right to interfere.
