Hello there petrolheads!

Hello there!

Came across this form while considering bringing some of our cars to India for road trips - both 4x4 and cruising. Based in Dubai for a long time but make several trips back home every year. We're a crazy bunch of business partners - all petrol heads who invest a lot of love and time in our 'boys toys' ;-)

It is really great to see all this enthusiasm and hardcore love for machines and I hope at some point in time to catch up with a few of the members at events and on road trips. I drive Jeeps and Scorpios etc in Goa and the Nilgiris.

We intend to make several trips of a longer duration to India from next year and I'm pretty much in a grey area on a few issues listed below (dunno if this is the right place but if so will move to another section) and hope to get some input from you fine folks.

- importing cars into India for short-medium stays
- road trips 4x4 type of longer durations - is it viable to bring in a LHD vehicle on a carnet or buy an indian (which 4wd?) vehicle instead and mothball it when not in use
- actual usage of supercars on the roads as opposed to 'show' events

Hmmm and with regard to my cars, well my first was a steel blue '93 Cadillac STS V8 Northstar which lasted for years. Then picked up another beauty an E31 V12 BMW 850ci '96 cherry red which I still maintain. Others include a champagne '99 BMW 530i & similar '04 Range Rover HSE, a mocha '08 Nissan Patrol Super Safari, a dark chocolate '09 Land Rover LR3, and a black '01 Jaguar XjR. My current favorite of course is this gorgeous 07 DB racing green Aston Martin DB9.

Cheers then and look forward to this experience! :-)

Will post photos in a bit. What I have at hand are these...

Thank you. I've already been spending quite a bit of time on some of the threads, especially the off road and vehicle imports stuff. Can't believe that it is such a pain, especially in this day and age!

Welcome aboard. Is that a V12 Vanquish or a DB9 that you've there?

Wow what a garage. Regarding bringing your cars to India I believe there is a way. I saw something on TV in Kerala on the same some time back but forgot how to do it. But we do see a few cars with Gulf registrations on Kerala roads. You could open a separate thread on this and I'm sure you'll get to know how.
