Hello BHPian comrades I thank Team-BHP for this membership. How glad am I.
This portal is nothing short of an encyclopedia for the motor enthusiasts like me which opens up a whole new world every time I step in.
It all began as a ten year old kid when I was being sent to a boarding school in Shillong. The first leg of my journey from Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) to Tezpur (Assam) was, believe it or not in a truck. That too a night-long travel. Instantly I fell in love with the interiors, those little dim lights in the cabin with switches and controls for all kinds of things, nook and crannies to keep the stuff, hangers for clothes, a small bed for a co-passenger. The feeling of moving in a sort of mini-home in those hostile terrains in the night filled me with great childish joy and fear.
Seeing the driver having supreme command of everything in the vehicle, the way he manipulated the gears, the successfully executed difficult maneuvers for passing and overtaking other vehicles in those very narrow roads high up in the snow covered mountains and the tap at the horn to passing trucks, the drivers of whom he knew to say a quick hello. I fell in love with all of it instantly and that's what I wanted to do my whole life. And there we go, all of a sudden I wanted to become a truck driver and very seriously at that. For many years I had regular heated arguments with my dad as for the profession I wanted to pursue. He thought I was nuts. At one point he even arranged for a serious discussion with my uncle to try and convince me that I was not doing the right thinking.
And all that happened when I was all of 10 years old. And some twenty plus years later i.e now, I am still in love with that idea.
Currently I am pursuing a career in IT in Bangalore. Have traveled to quite a few places around the city and the state of Karnataka and hope to keep doing the same even if I have to visit the same place again and again. I am game for the slightest chance to drive. Currently own a Dzire MJD. What a lovely machine to drive. Had owned a Yamaha RX100 and Alto before this. In my wish list is a comfortable 6-seater like Hyundai H-1. How I wish it were manufactured and sold locally in India.
Apart from automobiles, I am a music lover and totally in love with guitars. That is my other pass time.
My never-ending love for automobiles makes me spend considerable amount of time searching for the latest technologies and advancements in this field. I also dream of ways to make the mode of transport much safer and easier for automobile users. And the story never ends.
I hope to interact with fellow BHPians to learn and exchange ideas and surprise myself each passing day.
Adios for now. |
