Nijel here!

Hello BHP-ians,

I'm Nijel, 28 years, brought up in Qatar, a land where petrol is cheaper than water.Needless to say I've had my share of huge petrol engines and 200+ speeds(on straight non-monitored desert highways). Came to India when I was 12 and started off with the Tata estate and have graduated till the Optra magnum.
I have completed a masters in automotive engg from ARAI. I've worked in the engine R&D of ICML (heard of the Rhino?). Currently working for Bosch Ltd in R&D (common rail calibration). Have a total of 5 years professional experience in the automotive field. And the rest is self learnt.

Troubleshooting is my forte, so I expect to be hanging around in the technical section. I do check out new vehicle releases, so hoping to contribute to that too.

safe driving!

Nijel

Re: Nijel here!

Welcome aboard Nijel, good to see a Bosh R&D specialist in our forum.

Now, I have 2 questions for your. Sorry for asking upfront.

1. What happened to Rhino?? Are they still manufacturing and selling it?? I am asking this question since one of the Chennai dealership which used to sell Rhino got closed about 4 months back.
2. Heard Bosch is developing a small diesel engine for Nano, how far this is true and when can we expect this in production stage??

Nijel, welcome to Team-BHP.

Presume you would be based at Bangy or so. Where did you do your schooling?

Do go through forum rules and regulations when you get time.

See you around.

Rhino is still sold. IIRC, Chevy is getting the engine used in Rhino (120bhp!, forgot the Nm part ) for the Tavera. Guess that speaks how good the engine is.

Teambhple for more info :P

Re: Nijel here!

@camchennai: thanx 4 the welcome. The rhino in its latest avatar has the 120hp 240nm CRD-fi engine. Atleast that was what I was wrapping up while in ICML. JKDas is right about the engine transplant to GM. They (GM) might have redefined the engine themselves before agreeing to buy it from ICML. As far as the engine is concerned, it was a monster.

ICML got the rights to build the engine from MGRover (now sold to a chinese company). When MGRover turned belly up, ICML continued development with Siemens VDO (which was my job) to bring it to the present form.

Regarding Diesel engine development for Nano: I'm so sorry, cant talk about unreleased vehicles. But the Mahindra Maxximmo 'worlds first two cylinder crdi engine' has its heart from Bosch. So you can guess ;-)
