Introduction

Hello Everyone,

After closely following this group for more than a year, I have finally decide to jump in.
About me, I am Anuj, from Cochin. 38 years old. Married with two kids. I make my living by working on a Drilling Rig.

Me and my wife likes to travel a lot. And the kids are no different either. I came across T BHP when I was searching for some info about Leh, which we planned last year (and then the disaster struck). So that dream is still very much unfulfilled and every time I come across those lovely travelogues, I just curse my bad luck. Living in this end of the country doesn't help much when it comes to a Leh trip.

Coming to rides, My first ride was Enfield Bullet. It was gifted to me by my uncle 20 years ago. (Unfortunately I had to let it go few years back) Currently own a Tata Aria Pride of which I have clocked about 3500 KM. Apart from that have a Maruti Zen Estillo, which is primarily used by my wife. And I still keep my Indigo Marina which is the first ever automobile I bought with my own money.

Thank you and looking forward to a great time onboard with the experts.

Re: Introduction

Welcome Anuj to T-BHP. As you are working on a drilling rig does it mean you are offshore for extended period of time? So when do you drive

One more Aria owner joins BHP family.

Bad that you had to cancel your Leh trip last year. In fact we were also thinking about cancelling it last year but then eventually decided to go.

Re: Introduction

Amit,
You are correct, I work on an offshore rig. My work schedule is 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. So I could be on the road for 6 months a year. It is not as bad as it sounds.
Did you visited Leh after the cloud burst? It happened 2-3 weeks before our scheduled trip. My next trip to Leh will be on Aria

Nandu,
I started off from Bombay High. Presently working in Doha.

Yes we visited after the cloud burst. It almost did not happen but we did not cancel it. By the way in the process of penning down the TL after a long time on T-BHP. Should be up in a couple of days.

Way to go - Aria to Leh. Don't think would be an issue. We did the entire road trip in leh ladakh in Innova's, though the drivers were local.

Re: Introduction

Aria Driving to Leh !

Sounds good. But it will be a long drive Kerala to Manali to Ladakh and back home. Make sure you have at least 6 weeks leave and also multiple drivers.

There is plenty of info to plan your Ladakh drive here on T-Bhp. Keep us informed when you start your trip. Carry your camera and laptop as also wi-fi internet to give us a near live presentation of your trip!

Best o Luck!!

BTW I sail Offshore Vessels from Nhava to Bombay High.

Re: Introduction

Drilling Rig! I may have to request you to clear several doubts regarding drilling in land. I am a specialist in foundations (of buildings and other structures) and is involved in the soil investigation of a number of structures. We need to extensively use diamond core drilling. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TBHP, Anuj.

I'm sure you will have a fab time. Just go through the rules and announcements so you know what is expected out of members here. Also please pen down your experience with the Aria.

Welcome to the forum of auto enthusiasts. You like driving, so you will find a lot of info here. You could also put up a review of your aria for wannabe customers of the car.
cheers and happy driving.

BTW I happened to go to Leh last year before the floods. It is worth the trip I assure you.

Re: Introduction

Thank you all for a very warm welcome.

@ amitwlele,
Will be looking forward to see your TL. I was very much disappointed last year, when I had to cancel the trip after so much of planning and preparations. Anyway there is always a second time.

@ nanduchitnis,
Yeah, it is a very long drive indeed. That is one disadvantage of living at this end of the country. I have planned for a 6-week time off starting end April. But not very sure I will take up the LEH trip this time. Then as far as multiple drivers are concerned, I will have to depend on my wife to share the drive. I am not a night driver anyway, we travel till we get tired and start the next morning. We are yet to finalize on the trip.

@specialist1968,
I will be glad to help, if I could in anyway. FYI I am not into the drilling side of the operations, I am a maintenance guy. But I could get the info you want from right people if it is related to a drilling in anyway.

@jose joseph / naveen.raju,
My Aria is Pearl White in color. The Concorde guys told me that was the 8th Aria I got in Kerala. I know there are two White Aria Pride in Cochin for sure, because the other one belongs to a friend of mine, he took delivery a week ago.
Looking forward for the next meet to see all you guys. How often is the meet conducted? How large is the crowd?

@superboy44 / goandude,
I am not planning for an ownership review as of now. There are already a couple of them excellent reviews on TBHP. If I take my Aria to the big mountains I will definitely put in one report.

@MileCruncher,

Yeah, I am going through the rulebook. Getting used to them, slowly but surely.

As far as Aria is concerned, I am very happy with the vehicle. The ride and handling is excellent. Only problem I had was with the Horn pad. The horn kept on honking whenever there was a movement on the steering. Had to pull the fuse out to keep it muted. It is not a great feeling when you have to open the hood in the middle of a city road. It was a minor issue with the horn pad itself, which was corrected at the service center. They have promised me a replacement horn pad, but I am waiting for it over a month now.

Twice a month. There will be around 5-6 guys. More are expected to show up next time. Once it's planned, details will be shared in the Cochin meet thread. Also a PM will be sent to make sure you dont miss it..
