re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - 5th year & 75000+ kms

Hello M35 ..

Absolutely love your ride brother. You have kept her in pristine condition. in fact your bull is still now in showroom condition. your ride look majestic in BLACK shade. [ It' s my favourite colour ]

The place where you had taken that shot of you bull near Munnar is a favorite spot of mine. I fact I always stop there for a hot cup of tea and shoot a few pictures of my car whenever i go to Munnar. Nice photo indeed

wishing you many many happy miles ahead.

Lets hope we will meet someday [ I am from pala - kottayam district - I do frequent Munnar trips ]

keep revvin' brother...

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - into 6th year & 75k + kms

Hi M35, Thanks for your revert......My Scorpio has done 83000 kms in 4 hears and the ASC (Auth Serv Cent) has had both my front and rear wheel suspensions changed due to wear and tear. They told me that the suspensions hold good for 50K kms (normal use) and will need to be replaced anytime after that on a SOS basis.
Your vehicle has done exceedingly well in that regards. I am a daily traveller (to/fro work - 70kms daily) and drive on the pot hole ridden roads in Mumbai.

Thanks for the regular updates.
The pic of the Scorp near Theni, where exactly was that? I remember Theni as being mostly plains. We used to drive by Theni on the way to Kerala from Bangalore.

P.S. : Missing the Scorp!

Thanks. It was taken on our way towards Theni at Bodi Ghat road.

Update:

Just arrived after approximately 3000km drive.

Palakkad- Salem- Bangalore [halted for a couple of days for personal work]- Kohlapur-Pune-Thane

Return:
Thane-Kolhapur- Yellapur-Ankola-Bhatkal-Kollur[Mookampika Temple-Halted for a day]- Mangalore-Kozhikode- Palakkad.

Beautiful driving experience. While the former gave us the amazing 4/6-lane high speed moments, the latter provided the lifetime experience of drive through forests and Nature in rains. Very refreshing indeed.
  • Issues experienced: Absolutely nothing, not even a mild rattle, in spite of some harsh drive at times.
  • Road condition : except for some “no road” surface on Bhatkal-Mookambika stretch, the rest of the surfaces were just amazing.
  • FE: Close to 13.0 kmpL with AC.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 75000 kms

That's a mighty distance you've travelled at a stretch and that too without issues...The Bhatkal road has been like that since ages. The administration has just turned a blind eye to that stretch. Its wonderful to know that your ride has been giving you a wonderful time.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 81,000 kms

Update:
ODO: 79000 km
Issues: Absolutely nothing !

Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - 7 years and 1,18,000 km! EDIT: Totaled!-4.jpg

The monsoon has taken a toll on roads here = lots of hidden and water filled pot-holes. Even in such harsh conditions, the “Scorp” drives like a dream with not even a single rattle. The braking, the pick-up, FE, the engine noise and performance, all other electronics - everything as solid as ever ! The “Yokos” are doing a good job as well in this wet weather. The “ABS” kicked in a few tricky times inspiring more confidence. Meanwhile, got a call from my A.S.S reminding me for the next service at 83,000km. All in all very happy and hoping this experience continues the same way in the future as well.

A few more pictures taken a couple of days ago.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 81,000 kms

M35, 79000 kms and your car can be passed off as a new one! It doesnt seem like anyones actually used it. Well maintained.
I did the 85K servicing on my Scorp last weekend and got some good news that the various Oils (engine, brake, transmission, etc) being used have been upgraded and would need to change them at a much longer interval. That was pleasant.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 81,000 kms

Nice to read the reviews.
Also felt interesting as I also use to travel from Bangalore to idukki through different routes.
I started using own transport for my blr-Kerala trips from 2006 when 4 line were not there.
I started with wagon r , then indigo, scorpio, innova & now owns optra magnum.
Recently I shifted back to Kerala after my 12 years of Bangalore life.
My ownership of scorpio was so short ( 3000 kms) and it was a 2005 CRDI base model. I liked it for the city drive but it was scary to brake and handle.
Now, as I moved back to Kerala , i am contemplating on selling optra and moving to an SUV.
Do anyone know about the difference in handling and ride when the 2005 model and new 2.2 mhawk are compared?
I liked the ride in duster but I feel it's over priced and interior does not seem up market.

Thanks for the update anil, especially on the upgraded oil part. Must be fully synthetic. Can’t wait to get my Scorp those upgraded fluids during it’s next service at 83k km.

A test drive of the M-hawk at the nearest dealership will definitely help. If not in hurry, waiting for a month or so for the 2014 facelift to unleash isn’t a bad idea either.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 81,000 kms

Nothing much to update !

ODO: 81,xxx km
Issues faced since the last service: None

Since my stay abroad has been now stretched for some more time, there was a talk recently on not to retain the Scorp any further. There is zero running in my absence, alright, but will definitely not push for any deal in haste.

Nothing much to update. Not much of running happening these days. Added just about few hundred kilometers more in the last 3 months. No hiccups.

5 years and 4 months !
Missing my Scorp very badly these days.

Thanks Suresh.
The Scorp has always been an extension of my own self and anything associated with its maintenance is ‘normal’ to me.

I do feel it’s after the initial 40,000-50,000 kms run in period, this vehicle start performing at its best. Especially after the ABS fix/episode, the experience has been just “ fill it- shut it and forget it” kind.

A picture near Hubli, on our way back to Kerala from Mumbai, during this monsoon rains.

re: Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - Now, 6th Year & 90,000 kms

Time for some real update !
Beast is ready to roar again.

Mahindra Scorpio SLE (M-Hawk) - 7 years and 1,18,000 km! EDIT: Totaled!-dsc_3454.jpg

Drove back home from the airport. No apparent issues except for some foul smell when AC is on. A dead rat in the AC blower is the suspect as of now.

The "Scorp" has been sent to the ASC for the big 80k km service which should include the replacement of all major fluids : transmission, engine and clutch and also various filters.

Got a call from SA saying that one of the rear wheel brake liner has been broken and there is a slight leak from a pipe to/from the radiator which too needs to be addressed. Also told him to check all the suspension bushes and shocks for any abnormalities as well. For the foul smell from AC, the dash needs to be opened to check the AC components which is time consuming. Anyways I am told that the vehicle should be ready by 6.00 pm today.

Will update on this major service once the vehicle comes back home.
