I have found NCT 5 good on grip levels after they clocked around 2000 kms or so and they were properly run in. They offer very good grip and believe me i corner like a maniac on empty roads with Fiesta. The only negative with these tyres is road noise. Never tested in wet.

Please dont go for any comfort tyre like XM2 as they will roll a lot and you will loose confidence during cornering, have experienced them on my friend's Rapid and they squeal like a pig.

In 195/60 r15, have read that Primacy3ST has got good grip, excellent braking and pin drop silent. Have Bridgestone Potenza MY02 on my Linea and they offer brilliant grip, very sturdy tyres and silent as well. You can go for either 3ST or MY02. The best i have used is Potenza MYO1 on my Vento and they have never ever squealed, sidewall is stiff and the cornerning makes me smile every time, not in production anymore. i think you have already clocked a lot of miles on Goodyears, if so then continue with them till 20-25k kms and then swap as you will get peanuts for them now

A mid life update on Aston Vellaichamy!

The car has currently clocked 14,400KMs and it has been an excellent experience so far. To list a few points.

1. The 2nd service was completed without any hassle. The overall bill was 2100 including oil change & air filter change.
2. The average FE in the city has been consistently around 16.9 to 17.2 KMPL which is brilliant with some spirited driving involved.
3. The SYNC system has lot of bugs. It skips resume playing from phone when it receives an SMS and sometimes the track and display on the SYNC system dont match. The system has to be power cycled to get it back to its original sense.
4. No rattles so far, touch wood.

YES! The Fiesta comes with ESC, checked with the right people and also tested it

Its bizzare why Ford marketing is not even talking about this. I am wondering if they know about it!

Tyres, yes! Something you need to carefully choose and I did a big mistake of getting the Michelin XM2. The NCT5 that comes with the car are imported ones which are fairly decent quality than the ones you get here!

From my little experience with the Michelins, I have the following observations.
1. The XM2 lacks grip, push it through a corner even at mild speeds and the tire starts to squeal like a strangled pig. Braking distance is higher and the ABS kicks in quite easily.
2. The mild bumps on the road where the tire lifts off and lands, you brake then the ABS kicks in quite easily. Thats how lousy the grip is!
3. Its noisy, it rolls quite a bit too.
4. Only good thing, its comfortable ride!

It was my mistake though, I didnt choose my choice of tire carefully. I am planning to use this for some more time and then move bigger, wider wheels.

The Continental CPC2 are brilliant, got a new set on my Figo and they rock! The handling & braking has improved quite a lot albeit with bearable road noise too. But, its a bit hard if you prefer comfortable ride!

Really? Would love to have more information regarding this? There is no ESC light and i have successfully managed to get the tail out by oversteering many times, never felt the esc engaging.

Dont think Ford would not publish such an important thing in their brochure.

I haven't found any problems with sync like the ones you have mentioned. Music continues playing even if there is an SMS.

As for ESC, I think Ford offered it only in their DCT variant in their pre-facelift model. I am not sure if they have introduced it now. My memory is a bit weak and so may be wrong.

Interestingly, website of Ford India indicates about ESC being a feature in Fiesta (screenshot below). The specs sheet, however, mentions only ABS+EDB provided.

@anachronix - hey need some quick advice!

I just bought the new Ford Fiesta (Delivered 4th March) and have just finished the first 1500 kilometers. The manual does not have very clear instructions on running the engine in. It plainly says 'Drive Slow' for the first 1000 miles.

Therefore, I went ahead with the T-BHP advise and ran the engine in by driving below <2500 rpm for the first 1500 kms (few exceptions where it would have crossed 2.5 k rpm, but truly very few).

Did I do the run in right? Also, should I change the engine oil after the first 1500 kms?

Welcome to the club ssingh83,
engine oil change will be with the 10k service. The 1.5k km service is usually a check service where they do a check on the basic components usually they do a software update if yours is having an old version.
My Run in period was for 5k kms.

BTW, which car were you in? I see lot of TBHP stickered cars. However, there is just the smallest URL sticker on the number plates in my car and people can hardly identify the TBHP connection

I am close to a week away from celebrating the 1st year anniversary with the Fiesta. Its been a long and awesome journey, the ODO is currently at 23,400 and it still drives like a dream. Every time I get into the driver seat, it feels new and interesting. The bond I have built with the Fiesta reminds me of the one that I had with my first car a humble Ford Ikon 1.6!

Highlights:
1. The car has been put together really well, no rattles at all. Still feels new!
2. Amazing cruiser on the highways, the driving posture and controls makes it less stressful.
3. Very very addictive to drive through the ghats, did 2 trips from Chennai to Munnar on consecutive weekends
4. There is slight amount of body roll when the car is running on very low levels of fuel
5. The ECM learning cycle is really short, less than 50KMs of very sedate driving returns amazing FE in the city and you try to do a quick sprint the car spits black smoke. So much black smoke for the following vehicles to slow down a little!
6. When driven hard consistently especially through the twisties, the ECM keeps the engine very peppy and there is no smoke at all on hard acceleration!
7. The average FE in the city has been consistently between 16 to 17KMPL. With Shell Fuel the average FE indicator goes up by at least 2KM but havent done a consistent FE check with Shell Fuel.
8. There are still lot of people who quiz the make of the car and ask for details.

Important update was the number of tires I have changed in the past 23K KMs. The NCT5 that came from the factory was swapped for a set of Michelin XM2, I am still wondering why I took that stupid decision to get the XM2 for the car. I was very disappointed with that upgrade that screwed the whole balance of the car and making it very understeery with fairly inconsistent amount of roll through corners. Hated it so much and was waiting for the wheel upgrade that I was planning since I hated the design of the stock wheels.

Now the car runs on 16" Continental MC5 and Momo wheels! They have really transformed the car!
1. The ride is more plush and firm, more importantly comfortable. I was testing at multipe psi levels and finally settled for 32 in the city and 34 on the highways. Some might prefer a little bit more lower as I love a sharp car compared to a softer one.

2. There is awesome feedback on the steering now, you can now really feel the tarmac. Something that became inconsistent with the awful XM2s.

3. The speeds through corners have increased significantly, there is so much more confidence with the grip. A mid corner lane change can be done without any drama. Have surprised quite a lot of cars through the beautiful Kathipara flyover jumping from inside lane straight onto the outside lane.

4. On the wet, the tires easily tend to hydroplane! The CPC2s were brilliant in the wet, but the MC5 is strictly average in the wet. Speeds below 3-digit would be recommended through wet roads on the MC5.

And some pictures from before/after the wheel upgrade. I could easily compare since I went to Munnar with the 15" wheels & XM2s on and the following week after the tire upgrade. I could do an easy comparo of these 2 tires! Please stay away from the Michelin XM2 if you love little bit of handling and grip from the tires

Hi Everyone,
After reading and dreaming about it i finally convinced myself and my parents to buy ourselves a Ford fiesta titanium.
Our vehicle has already reached the yard and i will be doing a PDI this weekend before registration.
Since this is a low production car in Ford plant, the car that arrived in dealership this week is a February manufactured car. Seems like this is the latest that is available.

I am just worried if something might go wrong because of the age or abuse.
I hope a proper PDI will cure my nerves.
Expecting some expert pointers from you all .
