re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

In another 52 days, we will step into the New Year and my ciaz will officially be considered as a 6 year old car (2015-2021, though it is just less than 5 and a half years old).

To me, to keep driving a 6 year old car, it needs to feel good, inside out. Took this leisurely Sunday morning as an opportunity for a quick wash and waxing.

I must admit I hastily did the job, but nevertheless, the car looks beautiful and new. Here are some pics :

You might have noticed that I haven't washed my tyres or cleaned the alloys. It's intermittently raining here and I did not want to spend effort and time (takes me 40 minutes for all wheels) to clean something that's gonna end up dirty the very first drive.

Hi caradorer,
In second week of November, I also switched to UC6 for my 2015 Ciaz ZXI+. So far quite happy with performance. Just wanted to confirm the recommended tyre pressure for these. During installation, I was very specific with dealer to maintain the pressure at 30 psi, however according to him recommended is 32 psi and I agreed. Next day I was feeling that ride was too bumpy and hence checked the pressures again at my regular fuel outlet, to my surprise one tyre was ~ 40 psi. Since then I am running on 32 psi and ride is smoother. What is the pressure that you are maintaining and your experience?

Sorry Prasanna for hijacking your wonderful ownership thread with my query.

The most important reason why you must pick a reliable pressure gauge to mitigate such instances and be your own boss!

Have seen instances of many reputed dealers or fuel outlets having badly calibrated inflators.

Not saying that the place where you got the tires fitted had a bad gauge but having one in your seat back pocket is always helpful.

For this very purpose, I have a micro inflator from ResQtech. However, this one is with analog gauge and I prefer digital one at my regular fuel outlet where we can preset the desired pressure. For sure, small inflator is good investment considering service centers and tyre shops tend to overinflate more often than not for unknown reasons.

I too have an inflator with an analogue gauge. But I would hate to take the inflator out if I was only checking the tire pressure.

Hence I bought a seperate digital gauge which comes more handy.

Regarding tyre pressure, I find 29/31 psi best for city / highway driving for my 195/65 R15 Michelins.

Odo : 1,29,000 km done!

In another 1000km, it will be time for the periodic service. AC coolant has to be refilled I guess. Effectiveness of AC isn't as good as before.

Surprisingly Michelin does not seem to wear out at all. Almost 25,000 km run and it still looks and feels/drives like new tyres.

Covid has made my driving lesser in the last few months. I might bid farewell to 2020 with 130k km on the odo.

My Celerio is inching towards the 50k km milestone (4.5 years) and the Storme just hit the 25k km milestone (2.5 years)
Kwid stagnant at 44k km. It is a sitting duck in my garage.

Ciaz sure feels ancient when compared, just in the odo reading alone though.

1,30,000 km Service

Odo :

Just the routine oil and oil filter replacement and other PMS checks. The AC was inspected and it was told that the coil need to be cleaned, which itself is a 2 day work. I told them I will get it done later. I can't tolerate using my Kwid for 2 more days. Moreover I don't like the idea of the dashboard having to be removed to clean the coil.

Pretty low bill of 6500 rupees.

Sorry for the delay, have been travelling over 5000Km since the new tires. It has been excellent to say the least, I am confident this is the best tires for a Ciaz which comes on par with Michelin almost. I maintain the front tire pressure as 34 psi since the engine is heavy, I would prefer 32 psi at the rear if 4 people are travelling and 34 psi at the rear if i'm alone. On textured road, the tires make a humming sound. Unfortunately due to the import embargo I could not get the Michelin tires of the latest stock, so I switched it to UC6.
Happy and Safe Driving!

This year was a lazy year, all credit to Covid19. Ciaz has clocked 25,903 km in 2020. I technically should add 30km to it in 2020's part as I haven't included the Midnight mass drive to our church tonight.

December 2020 has been lukewarm when it comes to usage of Ciaz. About 2250 km

26k km of comfortable, plush, pleasant, economical and reliable service!

January 1st 2020, I spent on 4 new Michelin P4ST tyres - among the best tyres I have used so far. Great ride quality, reduced noise but average grip. They are durable though, they still have more than half of its life left, even after running 26k km.

What was the basis for this inspection, is it part of the PMS or did you have any trouble with the aircon? After 3 yrs and 57k KMS(on my S cross), I feel my AC has lost some of it's effectiveness. I'm expecting them to push the AC cleaning thingy from 3M or some similar con job rather than actually suggesting to get the coil cleaned. To make matters easier, my dashboard is already rattling quite badly so they can't really make it any worse.

It is a labor intensive job, getting to the coil but why would it take 2 days? 1 tech working an entire day should be good enough IMHO.

I have weak performance of AC since the 1.2 lakh km mark. The blower feels less powerful than before and the cooling takes longer. I used to have ACC set at 24 degree Celsius before. Now I am forced to have it set at "Low" and even then it isn't as good as before.

The ABT Maruti has a large traffic of incoming cars everyday at their service center. Their manpower has to be shared over all the cars and hence they wanted 2 days time.

A small fuel efficiency update. I have been using the Fuelio app. Makes me know what my actual consumption is like, long term.

These data are from the last 8 tankfulls. Strangely, there is a solid 1.5 kmpl difference between 2 of my usual pumps.

You can see the difference here

"My 2015 Maruti Ciaz ZDI - 1,33,000 km completed : Now Sold-screenshot_202101091813382.png

So it's 18 kmpl overall fuel efficiency. Quite impressed with the last tankful for giving me almost 20 kmpl. At the same time, quite irked by the diesel prices - crossed 80 rupees per liter
