Well, thanks for assuming I took the picture.

Free country, free advise. I get it.

re: Safari love story Part 2 | Prassy's 2018 Tata Safari Storme VX 4x2 Varicor 400 | 73000 km completed

Finally crossed 5000 km. Has taken me 7 months to do it. It is the first car of mine that's clocking kilometres so slowly. Blame is on unavailability of a driver, me being out of station for 2 months, and ciaz and Celerio shuttling to take care of our needs. Kwid is stagnant at 20k km and Storme at 5k.

On a different note, it isn't bad, compared to what most vehicles in cities clock on an annualized basis, around 10k km per year, even with one car in the house.
You have multiple cars and hence isn't very low, dont fret..!!!

We shouldn't come to a conclusion that he was the one who took the picture without knowing the full picture.

Request to Mods: please delete this post and link it with my other reply that answers both the posts. Still feeling a bit fragile not being able to use quote+/- on the phone.

The slotting of 1st gear in VX is a bit annoying when the vehicle is cold. I am facing it since day 1.

I want to ask you guys that are the gear shifts hard in VX 400 compared to EX. My friends EX has very smooth shifts, we can shift with one finger but in VX the shifts are hard. Can you guys comment on this issue?

For oil change, the change interval is 20k kms or 1 year as per service manual.

Thanks
I have had the experience of driving the first version of the storme in Chennai on quite a few occasions and I can certainly say that the slots in the Storme were better than the older 2.2 VTT Dicor's. I haven't had the chance of trying out the 400 Varicor's 6 speed unit though, ever since I moved to Europe in 2014

Storme gets a nice wash, along with its garage mates.

And it fits perfectly into the verandah of our new small weekend getaway home. Old Dicor would have been painful to reverse out. Storme is a breeze.

Still very much considering upgrading to a safari storme but the Hexa really attracts me for its automatic. Maybe an XMA+ would be ideal for me if ever there was one. But man how does one stop liking how good the safari looks.

But then Hexa is the sensible purchase here. Safari Storme is only for the hardcore safari fans. I am also surprised by FE figures reported by Hexa owners, - 14-16 kmpl. I am getting 12-13 at best in the Storme. Not sure if weight difference is so big.

Update:

Finally crossed 6000km

Odo: 6200 km

Safari love story Part 2 | Prassy's 2018 Tata Safari Storme VX 4x2 Varicor 400 | 73000 km completed-img_20181105_171512557.jpg

I had to drive the Storme to my FIL's place, 120 km away from Trichy. At a railway crossing while we were waiting for the gate to open, one drunk idiot came erratically in his motorcycle and fell on the left side of the bumper. I was worried there would be some big dent, given the impact of the dash.

And this is what I saw when I reached home

If it was my ciaz, I would have seen a big dent. Storme got away with a small dot.

And here, with my FIL's Amby

What was surprising was, that my wife felt ciaz back seat more comfortable than the Storme's. I always felt ciaz driver's seat was more supportive, but was surprised to know even back seat passenger felt the same. Or may be because we have been used tovciaz for 3 years. (Daily driver, while old Dicor was not). But then my dad and mom still swear by Storme's ride quality.

Happy Diwali to everyone!

The exterior plastics and the sheet metal of the Storme are indeed pretty robust and the paint quality too is made to withstand abuse.

Having said that, the Ciaz indeed has better engineered seats than the Storme. The middle seat in the Storme is slightly more upright than ideal and the driver's seats are badly made. The Dicor had better front seats.

Happy Diwali...!!!
