Very nice review. But what about the tyre noise ? When I TD a Corolla the tyre noise at high speeds was deafening.

Agree, on bad roads, it increases. Tyre noise is there at 100+ speeds. On bad roads(like newly tarred but not rolled properly), you will have the noise at 80+

Tyre noise in Corolla is a function of road quality, speed, and tyre age. On many roads in Delhi, there is no noise at all from anything even at 100. But on Nizamuddin Bridge (10 yr old now with no resurfacing), there is a noise even at 60. IMHO it is more a function of the road than something else.

The stock tyres on the corolla are the Potenza RE88. I had the same on my Cedia. They are absolutely crap tyres.

Yes, I would also consider Michelin when I am changing car tyres.

I did go through Michelin's website. They recommend only Energy MXV8 (195/60-15 or 205/55-15). This is theoretical since for me tyres are not due for another 25-30,000 kms, but PP2 tyre that works for Corolla is 205/60-15 only.

corolla HE 6000km

Have had it for 7 months now. first service done at 2500km. pretty late but had no time to visit the sercive center. check up was ok.

First problem has cropped up. the remote trunk lid opener is not working so have to open the trunk with the key. fuel lid opener working fine.

Paint quality not so great faintest of scratches can be easily spotted.even the teflon coating done at the service center not helping so much.

Interior door plastics are quite shiny and cheap.

Problem in reversing because of the high boot..will be getting a spoiler for that.

Biggest spoiler in the driving experience is the light steering and consequently the handling. gets scary at speeds.took it too 150kph, had to slow down as it was about to get airborne 'cuz of the bumpy road.
but the engines a gem.sounds a little raucous at the limit but should get fine with more kilometers.

Corolla - Update @18000 Km

Had my 2nd service at 18K Km after about 20 months of purchase.
Cost - Rs1600. No repairs.

No repairs/changes/Nothing to report - fortunately everything still works/did not need a repair.
standard corolla issues like light steering remain.

Between 18K and 30K, an additional service was done. No major or minor issues or spend on the car. car is now 3 years and 3 months old. I have not driven it over 130K, so cannot comment on aspects related to this. It has been great to travel with family (packed car) and packed boot as well, as the power delivery still appears to be extremely good.

I had reported challenges with the headlight, some of the responses to that were about high beam, bit I am referring to the low beam that is normally used. I do not use high beam unless absolutely required. That is still an issue, partly accentuated by extremely poor road lighting in Bangalore.

New Problems
: Nothing major, however there is a low noise while driving at extremely low speeds (bumper to bumper) on 1st gear. This noise has been observed typically after at-least 30/40 minutes of driving. Have shown it at the service station but they were not able to replicate it, they checked everything, did a TD and said the car is fine. Have driven about 5000 Km including long distance trips since then but this noise is there at those sub-10 Kmph bumper to bumper travel.

The sound appears to come somewhere from below the car and not the engine area. The rear passengers do not appear to hear it (may be they never bothered). It is not the clutch sound, this sound is present while clutch is not in use.

Any ideas/ has anybody else noticed this sound ?
