To be frank I have driven many cars of many brands but 1 which stands out is Ford Ikon,it's like been there done that :) what I most like about all the Ford Car which I have driven is Feel,Handling,Grip and Josh to be more Precise.

Lets compare Esteem /Accent even Aveo 1.4 with Ikon

Esteem seems so outdate and its vibrates after 90km and in long termer it is famous for creaking sound from chassis and its not at all rock solid ,parts might be cheap but interior are cramped :(

Aveo has one of the best interior in this class but feels is not rock solid after shutting down the door u can feel how chassis is not that great even its gearshift and pedals dont have good feel and steering is vague at high speed you dont feel planted to ground.

Accent is mid performer here descent interiors but no good handling.

Here comes Ford Ikon it has stance of ready to run ,the high boot give ikon stance of prouncing horse its nose and headlights and Fog lamps give signs of aggression ,

Sit in car interiors are not that great but improved over the period of time.

Feel the steering and you know what I mean,The steering feel so gr8 and you feel that you are connected with the ground,Gear shift is also nice and precise even cluth and brake feel is heavy and nice,It does not feel light such as santro or aveo.

Till now My car has clocked 25k odd on odometer and no technical snags till now,I have habit of giving car for routine servicing every 4month as part of my AMC till now Car is givin me 14+ km on highway and 11+in city with ac on this is because i am light footer, but for some racing stuff just drab accelerator and Ikon pushes u forward.

On technical front touch wood I never faced any issue except tyres which were stock tyres supplied by FORD which are MRF.I belive dont ever go for MRF as they dont have quality control on their tyres.

Till now I have just replaced my FAN motor nothing else and which was covered under warranty,

After 25k Odd figur on odometer the chassis is still stiff no signs of creaking chassis or suspensions.

My drive are normally to Alibaugh and Pune and longest I ever drove was goa but till date I never faced issue with this car.

I must say if you maintain this car with Periodic servicing you will never get any problem, I have habit of putting IFTEX G 10ml for every 10ml litres of petrol.

Overall I am satisfied with my CAR and it still feels Rock solid.

With its new pricing, the Ford Ikon Flair definitely makes a strong case for itself as an entry-level sedan. I presume yours is the 1.3 too?

I am glad you have enjoyed the Ford Ikon, but to comment on Esteem's interiors to be cramped would be inappropriate.

GTO, with the mileage figures he has reported, i dont really think its the Flair, but then again, i may be wrong.

How much does it cost to service it regularly( including oil and filter change) and what is its service interval. how much oil it does consume.

Are you experiencing any form of rattles.

Yes Ikon which i am driving Is FLAIR 1.3litres Rocam Engine and these figures are acutual as I have log of the petrol filled from Day one till date along with trip meter reading as well as odometer.

To get average u should be light on foot and should drive around 2500 rpm.

I have amc renewed every year which is aroun 8k and i service my car every 4months which is free for me in amc, so i dont have to pay for labours or any part which comes under maintainance. They change oil twice and filter twice in service. Air filter should be clean for performance to improve , more the air inflow more will be performance and average.

About rattles I havent found any till date except for ac vent, there are no structural rattles on IKON.

25K kms in how many years ? And how many kms do you do every 4 months ? Just wondering whether a service every 4 months is required for the kind of kms done in that period.

IMO, 8K a year is kind of an overkill when it comes to maintenance for a relatively new car (assuming yours is like 2 years old).

I think you have your facts wrong. Have you owned an esteem before or is your opinion based on sitting in an rattling old creaking esteem ? I have an 8 year old esteem which does not creak or rattle. It is all in the maintenance. If you care less for it, then it will not only creak or rattle, it will break down. Unlike ford cars, the esteem even though it is dated, can still be repaired & made a spanking new car, without much costs either. Have you sat in the poor old ford escorts ? you should. they beg for some attention.

service cost might be just 400 bucks BUT add oil and other tit bits, on an average expect a 2-3k bill for every 10k kms, i prefered to do by 7k km mark

OFF TOPIC:

8k an year is on the high side???

My friend bought an Accent CRDi about one month before i bought my P180 DTSi... Now, after 10 months, my bike had done near to 10k kms (review coming up), while the accent has done close to 40k... :p (Still feels goo though, except for some minro issues)

And ya... The guy has a girlfriend... lol:

Have driven the ikon, and its a very good driver's car... However, the interiors are not much to talk about... But, with the new beige interiors (havent seen it yet), its got to be good VFM in the segment...

at the rate iam going even 40000k looks bleek...

I am sure you will prefer the old interiors. :)

I am sure Ikon handles well and has a good pickup, but don't you think 11+ KMPL is on the lower side for light footed driving for a 1.3L engine ?
