Instead of Shell, have you tried Xp95 from IOCL?

No, I haven’t tried XP95 yet. If I remember it right, Tjet’s user manual says ‘unleaded petrol’.

Does a Tjet perform better with XP95? Any visible benefit?

re: Live, Laugh, Linea (T-JET) @ 100K km | A decade with Fiat Linea T-Jet | Ownership review

Some updates -

Car is chugging along nicely and will approach 78K on odo soon. Tjet picked up couple of minor battle scars recently along with some magically appearing scratch on its Oceanic blue body.

1. Tjet was parked at Pune railway station recently for an hour(thanks to Azad Hind train being late)and despite no dearth of space, some car kissed Linea’s bumper near right rear wheel arch. Fortunately, that part is PPF covered so no paint damage.

2. Again, while coming from Pune railway station(some other day), an Activa grazed the front right alloy slightly. Thankfully, no major damage.

Some trips happened this month to soak in the monsoon beauty.

I have filled only XP95 on my T-Jet ever since June 2021 or so barring one occasion where I had started a trip on quarter tank and had to fill regular for Rs.500 in a small town where they had run out of 95 and I ended up filling 95 after getting back on the highway.

T-Jet definitely likes 95. This year's was the first summer where the engine didn't feel like it had lost a considerable amount of power during hot afternoons or evenings. While the engine felt strained beyond 4500 RPM during hot afternoons with 91, it now pulls till 5500-6000 without that choked feel in second gear.

There is definitely an improvement in low end torque too. The improvements at both low end and top definitely suggest that the ECU isn't dialing back on the timing as much as it did with 91 octane.

The FE too has definitely increased on longer trips. While the T-Jet's FE is very sensitive to driving style and measuring FE isn't easy, I have noticed that I am getting 0.5-1 km/l more on long trips (over 500km) with similar routes and driving style as before.

I see no reason to use 91 on T-Jet anymore. From what I've heard, higher octane fuels in India aren't adulterated with ethanol yet. So, there's another big advantage to be had with XP.

It'd be nice to see how it'd perform with an uprated intercooler and XP95.

re: Live, Laugh, Linea (T-JET) @ 100K km | A decade with Fiat Linea T-Jet | Ownership review

8 Years 8 Months and 80000 kms on odometer

Live, Laugh, Linea (T-JET) @ 100K km | A decade with Fiat Linea T-Jet | Ownership review-b3d0318e2bad4228ba060d299371979f.jpeg

The ownership experience is flawless to say without any major niggling or technical issues. Hope it stays the same. It still feels contemporary be it engine performance, features, looks, practicality, safety etc.

Tjet spotting is rare. Very rare.

Engine is running sweet and looks like it’s just reached its prime. Most of the items like clutch, suspension stuff(except elastic pad) are still on its first set. Acceleration still gives the chills and keep up with new age cars.

I just love the brakes. Despite being stuck on Srisailam ghat for hours on my way to temple and back and crawling like snake, it never felt spongy or vague. ABS works flawlessly whenever needed without being intrusive.

Ride is flat and generally takes most of undulations/craters in its stride. Luckily no bent wheels till now.

Fuel economy is fantastic on highways if you modulate your right leg gently. I got a true mileage of 17+ kmpl on my trip to Srisailam.

Interiors are holding nice without any untimely rattle or torn fabric. Exception is the sunvisor. The OEM one’s broke 1-2 year in the ownership. The price of sunvisor is around ₹4500. The one on driver side rattles to glory on slightest road imperfection and always remind me of where I am saving the money.

Leather interior are definitely A+. They are superlative in providing comfort and class.

Blue&Me along with ICE works as intended. Thank God for that.

Auto AC works as intended and rarely do I go below 21-22 degree C.

The fantastic Michelin’s are on their last legs. I have penned my experience of completing 50k kms with them in a separate thread.

The usual FIAT traits are obviously present like a cavernous boot, abuse friendly design, solid build with a built to last feel.

I go to FNG for all my Tjet related service needs since FASS is definitely no good and is overcrowded. These guys though are technically good and humble but things are getting mismanaged a bit with increasing load. A potential red flag for future? May be.

For now, I am enjoying the TJET experience.

Co-incidentally, I tried using xp95 for Tjet a while ago. I definitely feel some improvement in terms of engine smoothness. It definitely feels less strained.
I can’t confirm yet on increased fuel economy, but I will definitely keep an eye on that.
Thanks for sharing your experience

Annual service update
Got the annual service done in 10 months due to increased running. All the fluids were changed and bill came around 8.5k. Vehicle is running notably smoother after the service.
Odometer is at 815**.
Trivia
Tjet crossed 81k milestone during my Diwali home run. This is the first vehicle in our household including two wheelers which has managed to clock so many kms in its ownership.

Just a query:

I have been using regular unleaded fuel on my t-jet (remapped now) since day 1 and it's been 8years on.

Been thinking of trying out XP95 fuel.

I assume XP95 is not widely available and if that is the case what happens when we mix regular unleaded fuel with XP95?

It will even out. Depending on the volume left in the tank, it will become 92/93 octane fuel, eventually becoming 91 on further refills.

re: Live, Laugh, Linea (T-JET) @ 100K km | A decade with Fiat Linea T-Jet | Ownership review

I planned a visit to Rameshwaram for last week and came back today. The main goal was to visit the Jyotirling in Rameshwaram and some nearby places.

It happened such that we covered Namakkal, Madurai, Kanniyakumari, Kodaikanal and couple of more beautiful temples along with Jyotirling darshan.

Will try to pen down a travelogue for the same. This was my first proper experience of down south and I am amazed. Tamil Nadu is just beautiful. Road infrastructure looked too good. Sharing some clicks

Linea performed flawlessly and was a delight in ghat sections. It delivered a true mileage of 15 kmpl plus for the entire 3700kms trip. Odometer crossed 87k just a while before reaching home.

Linea completed its 9 years of ownership today. It’s an out and out fantastic experience with the car till date.

Considering the age and usage, have planned some part replacement
1. Replace spark plugs - I am not sure when the current ones were put. However, I am pretty sure that it hasn’t been changed in last 3 years and 40k kms.
2. Replace tires - Tires are on their last legs after being used for 58000 kms. As checked last month, availability is still not normal for Michelin. Will check and go for either Continental or Pirelli.
3. Battery - Usage has been minimal with only office commutes since TN trip. I am getting some random Airbag failure messages which means it’s time to replace battery. Current one is 3.5 years old.
4. Sunvisor- The driver side sunvisor is broken since last 3-4 years. I plan to get it replaced soon.

Car is on stock clutch, brake discs and suspension. Apart from ICE which doesn’t have the feature of playing music using Bluetooth, rest of the car still feels contemporary.

I plan to enter the 100000 kms club this year with Linea. Running for 2021 and 2022 calendar year was 14000 and 18500 kms respectively.
Fingers crossed.

Great read, thank you for sharing. I was young and didn't have money to buy when this car was on sale. So I've settled for a Fabia. Everytime I see Linea on road, there is a little pain in my heart. Now I'm not as enthusiastic as before and looking for practicality in everything I buy.

@mods, Thanks for putting this up in the front page but there is a typo(number) in the heading. It says 8,70,000 kms, an extra zero has to be deleted.

Kudos to you on achieving this milestone with such an awesome car. Always lovely to read your updates.

Regarding Michelins, try Sai Enterprises on Baner road who always has stock for Michelin. I am sure he would be able to arrange tyres in Linea's size too.

Thanks for the encouraging words!
Fabia was quite an aspirational product when launched in mid 2000, priced higher than the Indigo’s of that time I suppose. I remember ogling at the projector headlight of it. A feature which was quite unheard of at that time.

Regarding tyres, the quoted information by me is from Sai tyres itself. Though the owner himself wasn’t present and I got the information from his staff.
Thanks again for sharing the number. I will call him and check on the latest status.

You are indeed lucky to have the Linea with you. It is a total enthusiast's car. Cherishable beauty. Ageless. The chassis, the engine, the drive, the comfort never disappoint even while driving enthusiastically for prolonged periods. The rarity is another factor that makes the ownership special. Solid mechanicals.

The fantastic pics posted by yourself depict how it has been kept, beautifully. Pune has places, outside the city, where a true territory of a Linea lies. Cheers!
