Over to oil wars! I think even Mobil 1 doesnt cut in when it comes to DDIS engine.

End of report!

Jaggu,

Try J K Automobiles on J C Road. These folks have been servicing me for a while. I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w-50. Call him(26708210) to ensure that he has it before you go in. Also do tell him you are a friend of mine.

Good luck

Sateesh

Thanks Satheesh, i already have got contacts for direct Mobil sales for south india.

@Sateesh, pls check the rest of the thread after the post you have quoted : Jaggu got the oil delivered to him, and quite a bit of oil has flown over inside the engine.

Thanks Jaggu for the very informative reply. I am working on a list of things to carry. I realise it is a good idea to check the numbers beforehand. Am still not sure about the oil you have recommended. Delvac 1 is synthetic and is very expensive. The other one, Mobil Delvac MX, what is this? Mineral? I had seen three grades of oils at a Mobil dealer for Diesel engines (suitable for Swift). One is recommended by Maruti, the other was Delvac 1 and the third I presumed was Semi Synth. The numbers were 1000, 2000 and Mobil 1.

I find Mobil 1 to be very expensive. What do you suggest?

Have never heard of 2000, Delvac 1000 is the recommended one (recently launched) but its inferior to Mobil Delvac MX (commonly available). If you can post the ratings of these oils, can suggest better.

Mobil Delvac 1 is the synthetic one and will be expensive. Dont confuse this with Mobil 1, mainly recommended for petrol engines.

If you can, please provide the details of the source for Mobil Delvac 1 and the price.

Hello Dushmish - I spoke to Fiat Engineers(they designed the engine) - they opine that Delvac MX is the best oil for MJT -DDIS. Vora Automobiles has been delivering Mobile Delvac MX for me in Mumbai. Couple of things you should do before you hit Himalayas
1. Replace AirFilter with new one before you hit Mountains and keep a spare one.
2. Recommended that you change Oil before you hit Himalayas

Hey Jaggu,

Mobil Super 1000

Mobil Super 2000

Mobil Super 3000 X2 5W-40

Those are the links of the 1000, 2000 and 3000. I had seen the flyer at Chandrika in Dadar. Called him up took the grades as well. 1000 - 15w40, 2000 - 10w40 and 3000 - 5w40. The flyer said - 1000 for city driving. 2000 for occasional driving to limit and 3000 for extreme conditions.

I am looking for a semi-synth for my car. Which one do you recommend?

The Mobil link you posted and the ratings you mentioned dont match, i think they are different oils. Oils sold abroad are not the same rating as the ones sold in India.

Ensure its diesel engine oil, if possible check if it mentions for Turbo + EGR application and then check if the rating is CI or above.

Guys,

Need help.

Did go through the thread still I'm not sure what to do.
So this might sound stupid, anyway here goes.

Initially (read 1st service) MASS said change to Synthetic during 1st oil change. Synthetic = reduced friction and my logic was let the engine do its "run-in" as per the manufacturer recommended oil so did't do anything.

Now MASS guys and other service center people I know says Swift DDiS required oil change every 10k kms only. But service every 5k ?

Swift DDiS as per Owner's Guide service is every 10K kms.
MASS guys said to come in for 15k kms service.

1. So which service interval should we follow ? (5k or 10k ?)
2. Use normal Mineral based oil or Fully Synthetic ? (what happens to the oil change interval in both the cases)

Reason : Car has done 15k service without oil change. Needs to finalize what oil needs to be used for next change.

Future plans : Racedynamics "box" + CAI

Hey Jaggu, I know the ratings don't match. I have seen the flyer today again at a mobil dealer here near my home. He said, mobil has relaunched all its product with new names. I saw the flyer announcin this. old name - new name it had for all products. It also had 1000, 2000 and 3000 listed there. The 2000 is not yet launched in India is what the delaer told me. But the flyer was definitely of mobil india as it gave the website as mobil.co.in. This oil business is so confusing. He offered me three oils for Swift - 1300, MX and Delvac. Claims that MX is the best of the lot. I insisted on 2000. 3000 also is synth. Mobil Delvac 1 is now called mobil 1. Both for petrol and diesel it is same. A little confusing but true.

My problem is still not solved. I am wanting to change to semi-synth. Won't castrol gtd help? I checked the literature at Mobil. They say it is ok to mix synth and mineral and use. In any ratio. How about 1/2 1/2? cost save and good lubrication. I anyway will not drive in extreme conditions. What say?

Service interval recommended by the manufacturer along with oil change is every 10k kms. Dealers will push for 5k kms to make some easy money.

Personally i follow 5k intervals (service and oil) since my driving conditions are not that ideal. During 5k i go with the lesser 5 point check (or similar) and 10k kms more extensive work including brake cleaning etc.

For oil i am a blind follower of Mobil Delvac MX, which is cheap, easily available and darn good! If you want synthetic try for Mobil Delvac 1.

I prefer more frequent (5k kms) mineral oil change to more expensive synthetics for this diesel motor.

@dush: Can you pick up the ratings (xxWxx and the Cx) and post here for the new launches, then i can help you. Otherwise stick to on brand and one type. Unless you see the ratings of these products as better than that of Delvac MX, i would recommend Delvac MX.

As i posted earlier, pick up the can and read whats written on it, this will clear the doubts. Points to look out for:
- Is the product recommended for diesel engines (especially ones with Turbo and EGR)
- Is it 15w40 or better (5w40, 0w40, 10w50 etc)
- Does it have CI or higher than CI ratings

If the oil meets the above go for it.

Guys
I h got hold of a 5l can of Mobil Delvac MX for my DDIS.When I asked the SA of Sai to change the oil he refused saying that they dont take oils from outside. My car has completed 8200kms as of now.So it will have the 10000km service soon,so no use changing oil now. So Mobil will be going inside my Lancer Diesel now.

dilip, why not try some other MASS which wont mind using your oil?

Which service center? They are not justified in doing that. the oil exceeds standards set by maruti. what is their problem? I'll tell you, they are trying to fleece you with substandard oil. killing 2 birds with one stone- i.e your wallet and your engine.
Try auto team at padivattom. more sensible, and helpful.

lol find another mass thats all.

ps: dont leave that can on the bonnet will get scratchs!!
