Yes, thats what the manual says. But it is good for the engine's health if the oil is changed every 5000Km. The rest is all about keeping the car in tip top condition. Most enthusiasts here follow the interval of 5K Km for servicing and oil change.

Well I don't agree on this. Changing the oil in half the interval won't affect much except being heavy on pocket! The same engine in Palio/Punto has service interval more than 10K kms, and Maruti is in fact playing safe with 10K kms.

Hi Eddy,

Not changing the oil filter on the first filter is not a good idea at all. The oil change has a lot metal deposits that come off the new engine. Oil filter could get clogged. On the 4th service though, it is ok just to change the oil and not the filter. :-)

Dear Sethi, you are right that the service interval is 10,000 km. I would personally want to stick to that. The kind of pot holed roads we drive on, the car would come apart if I wait that long for service. The new feel goes every 5000 km or so. So I stick to 5000 km interval. Regarding oil, I was using Mobil Delvac and wanted to use a better oil. So I changed at 15,000 km. During the process I interacted with tech support at Castrol, Mobil and Chevron. They all said any drive less than 16 km is considered harsh on engine. All my drives are in fact shorter. I thought it to be prudent to change oil sooner than prescribed. I does pinch on the pocket but the benefits are far more in the long run.

Where do I get the additive? Help!

Hey Jaggu, I just got my Dzire ZDI serviced. The 4th service (first paid one) at 15,000 km. There were no complaints. The work done was as listed below:

1. Bodywash and interior cleaning.
2. There was a sign of a loose or leaking oil seal on the top of engine near the air filter. It was a loose nut, tightened.
3. Got all the suspension nuts tightened.
4. Got oil changed to Mobil MX. The filter was not changed though. They insisted that it need not be changed till 20,000 km.

The total cost was 900 Rupees exclusive of the oil. The oil costed 218 Rs per liter.

I have read in your posts about the diesel additive (3M or Maruti approved). How often it should be added? How does it help?

And TBHPians in Mumbai, where and for how much can I get it in Mumbai? I live in Goregaon (E).

Ciao,
Dushmish

For diesel Additive

Using Normal Diesel + Elf addtive AC 2010 (20ml for 40 ltr diesel fill)

Drive has become smoother. am told the average goes up about a 1-1.5 km.

TOTAL ADDITIVES & SPECIAL FUELS - AC 2010

was told that this should help clean the carbon deposits in the Engine ? Not sure how this can be check thou

There is an audible whine noise(Engine) in first, second, third gear, it's more audible while shifting the gears. Is it noraml? If not, what would be the cause and remedy?

It might be the turbo whine, does it happen at certain RPM'?

The whine is audible once the gear in engaged and car is moving, on idle RPM i don't hear whine! once it reached 1500+ on RPM meter the noise is audible.

I think its turbo whistle, you can check if there are any leaks in the turbo plumbing just to be on the safe side.

OK. Is Turbo Whistle a matter of concern or a normal sound?
What is the checklist to check the leakages in turbo plumbing?Or should i get full turbo assembly checked?

it is surely the turbo whine gill...

@gill
1) Not a concern its normal
2) If its very high noise, then check the fastners at the end of the plumbing/tubes. But then you will have other issues like rough engine, more smoke and erratic idle etc if there is a leak

my car has just done the 3rd service . I get the turbo whine sound too, and its typically over 2k rpm.

surprising i noticed the "Whhiiinnne" sound only a week after the 3rd service

The whine is not too much to be realy audible unless you switch off the audio system and are driving in a silent environment. Very less people come across it.

The car is ICS-less since last 14 days, that might be a reason that the turbo Whine is now audible!

Here is one more source to procure mobil oils from.

Sachin my service adviser from RNS has joined as works manager @ Nexus, #62, 80ft Road, Opp MSR Hospital, BEL Rd, RMV 2nd stage, 2nd block. Maybe useful for people in that side of town, also any feedbacks on the garage might be helpful for me.
