204000kms and sold

From the last update at 1.96L kms there was not much issues with the car till i sold it.The only problem was a slight leakage from the brake fluid tank becuase of weak rubber bushes of the tank.Couldnt source new bushes so my mechanic bought a tank assembly from Gujri for Rs.500.The labour was 200 because brake bleeding was also done. Also did one regular oil service in this period.

I sold this car in May for 92000/-.I know this is a great price for an Escort.I was expecting 85K.The price quoted by me was 95k and the person who bought the car took a test drive for 5-6kms along with his driver and offered me 90K immediately.Even i was suprised by that offer and finally settled for 92k.The other offers i got was in the range of 70-80k. I had to provide the buyer the CC from my RTO which cost me around 800.I was very sad for few days and still regret for selling my great Escort.

Mods please update the title to 2L kms.

Oh!! sad news , that you let it go, but I guess it was time.
I know you will miss it as it was your first car, but 2Lakhs kilometers on it was amazing.
Glad to know that you got better than expected resale value.

Good price, congrats. Just goes to show our market's fascination with diesels. My uncle's Y2000 Ford Ikon petrol is on the block. It's newer than your car, has only 75,000 kms on the clock, yet the best offer so far is Rs. 50,000.

GTO, you are scaring me . I have a petrol ikon flair, sep 2008 model, took delivery in Feb 2009. Looks like I will have to keep it till eternity, if at all it lives so long.
I have seen 2003-4,5,6 models quoting for anyways between 1.25 to 1.9 lakhs but 50K is damn too low.

Re: Ford Escort 1.8D 1.7L kms and still going strong

Thanks for the great review. It is sad that you also sold the car :(

I wish someone who had the 1.6 petrol engine could write about their experiences with their car.
