i10 - First Service Update @ 1212 kms

The i10 was taken to the first free service on April 2,2008.The Service advisor was rude and did not intend to ask any problems i had with the car.But i insisted on the engagement of 2 nd gear which was hard.Rest all was fine and i was happy with the mileage too.So here comes the short review.

Engine : Very Very Silent. Was careful enough not to rev beyond 2.5 K RPM.Did a couple of short highway trips and was happy with the response from the engine.Still,a small lag is there in the engined response with the A/C switched on,but this was visible only in the highways.

GearBox : Butter Smooth. The cable operated gear box was a delight to operate except for sometimes when the second gear is engaged. But the problem seems to have solved after the first service.

Ride & Handling : Ride is quite bumpy in the rear at low speeds.Handling is fine at moderate speeds. The steering is very precise and a delight to operate.
Only grouse is that the rims are 4B in size and yet i have to find alloys for the i10.

Mileage : 14 km/l ( 100% A/C - City )
16 km/l ( 100% A/C - High way )

Pros :
1. Very Smooth,Silent and peppy 1.1 litre engine
2. Perfect driving postion with all the controls easier to reach
3. ABS + Airbags - a definite welcome in a small car
4. Lovely Interiors
5. Precise gearing + Steering
6. Easy driveability in city
7. Good Mileage
Cons :
1. Factory fitted Remote Lock does not beep when locked/unlocked
2. No Retractable antenna
3. No option of alloys with the dealer/outside market

Service Bill : Rs 3600/- ( Thanks to a motorist who badly dented and scratched my rear bumper in a signal.Had to repaint the entire bumper).
Overall,i am one happy customer.

Hi eddy,

The cost was for repainting the bumper and not for any oil changes.I think nothing was changed in the first service.

Overall a good job done by the Torana Motors.

What happened? Was it just repainting or was some tinkering also done? Drive safe.

Hmmm... Was it limited to only painting the door or did it need some denting work as well? Also, are you paying everytime from your pocket or is it the insurance?

I hope you did match the colors minutely in the broad daylight before taking delivery. If there is even a slight mismatch it will look ghastly in the day light.

Hi Zappo,

The paint match was perfect in broad daylight.Did not see any noticable difference.I paid this out of my pocket and did not opt for insurance.

Yes,Zappo i took the delivery today at around 9.00 PM in broad daylight. There was minor denting work and painting that was needed.
