DTE shows 70 KM -filled Rs 1000 normal petrol

Tankup- Rs.1130

DTE shows 466 KM after tank filled to brim. Not very happy with mileage - but then I was not driving sedate or anything:D

Hey Marlin--that's not the right way to calculate F.E.---tankfull to tanfull is the only reliable method. DTE is an approximation. But the fact that your DTE showed 466 when you tanked up in end shows that you've been ripping your car! I generally get around 500+ reading on topping up in city driving ---used to get 480 last year. Incidentally, after driving sedately for around 400 kms like fidaford on my return from Mumbai, my DTE showed 670 on tanking up at the destination!

I do not know why this cause but maybe the Bombay traffic might be affecting this.

Fidaford, that is the general feedback I have received from most people who own this vehicle - it doesn't give a FE above 10 in city traffic. That is also what I am getting in Bangalore traffic.

Marlinspike, yeah even I used to get a mileage of 10-11 initially when I tried to drive like a maniac on the highways - not my style actually but the vehicle creates that urge.(not to speak of the Michelin PP1)
I have subsequently toned down and get around 14 now in highway.

Here's an update on the service carried out last week, after a gap of 8 months and around 5100 kms on the odo. The service carried out was the 40K service and the bill including VAT was Rs 4033.
Break up is Rs 1400 for parts (incl E.oil, filter, air filter, etc) and around Rs 2300 for the labour costs, inclusive of 5-wheel rotation, balancing, alignment, weights, waxoyl touch-up, etc.
The job done was quite good and the rare squeaks from the back seatbelt harness are gone. Even the thud sound from the front right shock absorber while going over bumps on turnings is gone. The wiper blades were found to be in order and not renewed.
They've replaced the AC filter with a new one from Ford---the old one was removed last October based on a circular from Ford that those were defective.
They even wanted to replace the spark plugs as it is a step in their 40 K service, but keeping in mind my odo reading of 16K, I told them not to. Even the FE is around 12 for the past 2 months.

So far I've been a happy user of the 1.6 sxi, and hope to munch many more miles with it.

:Frustrati I thought that my running was low. I at least have the excuse that I walk to my office, what is yours? 5100 Km in 8 months and 16K in 2 years!

I guess it is time to be a regular for all TBHP drives.

Cheers,

The FE figures are quite good.I always thought Fiesta P doesnt give more than 10. Looks like you going Fida every bit of your Fiesta. Cheers! Drive safe.

I agree---it is a wee bit low, though I don't walk to office. My daily run is around 32 kms, but Sat and Sun are off days. And if I have to go shopping to Ameerpet, Abids or General Bazaar, I find the WagonR easier to park and forget.

Yeah, it looks like most users on this forum are getting around 10 in city driving. Perhaps my route is less congested than theirs---I generally prefer to drive on roads with lesser traffic, even if the route is 3 to 5 kms longer.

+1 to what Ravvs said, Venu, please do get your car for the next long drive. Cars as yours aren't supposed to be under wraps but are made to be driven hard:)

Btw, i can imagine Brajesh already sweating as you are going to give him one helluva competition:D

Yup, will surely do. Brajesh has modded his car with a custom filter, so he does have an advantage!!

I was hoping to make up on the Goa drive that was cancelled for other reasons. Now I wonder what I'm gonna do on 23rd and 24th---I'd applied for leave long back and it was sanctioned :Frustrati

Then it is a good reason to plan a drive. Why not go to strawberry country? You have ample time to make it and back in your 1.6 mile muncher

lol: That was a good one! I'm sure you'll get your 1.6 soon, and it will be worth the wait.

BTW, the place mobike008 was referring to was Mahabaleshwar---you can read his travelogue and gloat over those pics of sumptuous strawberries.

I own a fiesta 1.4 duratorq and am very happy with my car as well. Recently the A/C wasnt cooling so i got it checked and i was informed that the cooling coil had a leak. I was informed that this is a regular complaint for the Fiesta. In my two years i never had this issue but the mechanic told me almost all fiestas come in with the same issue and that the second most common problem was the fan motor conking off. Since i had both these issues once i wanted to get some feed back from other users. All said and done i love the car and its been a great experience owning it. Although i must say that once my extended warranty expired the service has gone down hill.

chittybang, I've had my fan motor conking off, but not the cooling coil issue. I hope you were covered under extended warranty for both failures.
After reading your post, I was kind of wondering why the after sales varies after the warranty is over?

I take my car to bhavana ford nerul for service and until i had my warranty they were courteous and always on time but on my very first paid service since the warranty they didnt even clean my car properly. there was extra charges on my bill which i took up with the representative only to be informed that they had done some underbody coating without my permission. it wasnt part of the 40000 schedule. a week later my A/C isnt cooling and I went back to them. they tell me i should leave the car there and they will check it. WHen i asked him if he will look into it today itself he tells me he isnt sure and that there arent any technicians around as of now. So i took a chance and showed it to a car A/C specialist at Palm beach marg. He immediately checked the gas levels with a guage and informed me that there must be a leak in the coil and he is the one who informed me that its common in fiesta. He was willing to get it ready in a 3 hrs max. He also gave me an option of temporarily filling the gas and running it till the weekend. If its a small leak it will stay fine till then. My dissappointment is that the guys at Bhavna ford couldnt do this much for a customer. Infact they were very slack in their behaviour.
