Varun,
185/65-14 or 195/60-14 is the right size for Verna.

In 15", 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 would be the right size.

I would advise you to stick with 14"s.

Hi...can you also suggest a double DIN HU for the old Verna that goes well with the red green lighting theme of Verna?

Regards

Go for the JVC XR816. It has a variable lighting scheme which you can set to go with the Verna colours. Its also a high-end, fully kitted out Double Din HU.

Double-DIN CD Receiver KW-XR816 | CD Receiver | Car Audio | JVC India

If you just want the lighting scheme and not the high end features, go for the XR616 or 416. They're much cheaper.

So finally got New Alloys and New tyres at 82500 km's

There is a worlds difference in driving now and handling. Super comfortable and no noise at all.

HRS 15'' H480 Model - 17000 rupees
Yokohamas AVS DB 195/15 - 21000 rupees

Total 38000 rupees.

Done at a friends place in Gurgaon.

Pictures dont do it must justice. I did have the options of putting snazzier looking alloys BUT since the car is driven with a lot of my buyers / designers from Europe I just wanted something that looked decent. Does the job perfectly :)

Wonderful looking alloys. Did your factory fitted tyres last 82500 km's?

Thank you.

No. My stock was 175 Bridgestone's changed at 40000 km's on steel rims.

Then changed to 185 Yokohama's C Drives and they lasted 42000 km's again on steel rims.

So these are the 3rd set now. I always changed them when these tyres had done almost 80 %.

I don't like taking them to the complete end of the tread.

Congrats there for getting a decent design. It gels well with your already well-maintained car.

Would you mind sharing the details of the place from where you bought the alloys? I am not really ready to buy but would still like to check out the collection available at this place in Gurgaon.

Drive safe.

I got it from a friend who modifies cars - autopsyche / auto scanners in udyog vihar - however he got me these alloys from the HRS dealer - called alloy wheels india. You can check them out on the internet or on their facebook page which they regularly update.

It also shows the stock as per the size / finish & car. The website works and is good for someone who is planning to get alloys. Have a look.

Got the car serviced at 87000 km's -

Oil Change
Oil Filter
Front Brake Pads Change
One Parking Headlight Bulb
Rear Brakes Service

Paid 4000 rupees for the above plus service and checkups and top ups of fluids etc.

Varun,
Glad to read the car is going good at 87k kms.
What about timing chain & clutch ? Replaced ?

No Prajesh - not done that yet !! Please highlight me on the importance of these as in when I should get it done and how much should it cost and what are the signs I should be looking at for getting this done. Thanks.

Timing chain ??

Why does that need to be replaced ? I thought it lasted as long as the car itself.

Timing chain is an important part of any engine. Controls almost everything.
Schedule replacement interval is 80k kms but depends from car to car. Seen cars running at 150k kms without any problem.

Yes, it should, but doesn't in our driving conditions or manufacturers don't have the confidence to put it on paper.

Check the service manual.

Most manufacturers quote an change interval of 80k kms for timing belt and for timing chain its 100k or 120 k kms.

I think DDIS is 100k kms.
Hyundai CRDi is 80k kms.

Varun, the alloys look great man - you sorely needed them ;)

How are the Yokohamas? Quick review?

Crossed the 100000 mark a month back.

ODO reads 103500 this morning.

Did not get the car serviced or oil changed since last 6 months. Not even oil change. Stupid of me.

So yesterday was in Delhi and had an hour. I quickly got the 3 essential things done - oil change, engine flush due to late change of oil, oil filter and air filter.

Cost me 3200 rupees.

I have been contemplating buying a 3rd car since months now and have almost zeroed down to the verna sx crdi / elantra crdi.

It looks like I will go with the verna crdi and keep the old one as well. The difference between the verna and elantra is just about what I am getting for my old verna and I'd rather keep 2 cars than 1.

We already exchanged our 8 year old accent with the i20 earlier. In January.

Looks like its raining hyundais only in our family.

Well they make really good cars and have excellent resale value and low maintenance costs.

A note for tyre shoppers - avs db yokohamas are excellent tyres. Not a single flat or even alignment balancing done in almost 20000 Kms. And this is all running on Yamuna expressway. The tread shows no fast wear as stated by others when you run on concrete roads.

The FE is close to 12 kpl on average.

Overall very satisfied with the verna and hoping to keep it for another 2-3 years.
And looking forward to owning another verna.
