hi Porus,

The forum is waiting for your M1000 maintenance review on how it was maintained, who maintained it, how were the parts sourced and what were the major work done on the car for the last 15 years. This would give a good insight into the secret of long lasting martui cars.

Dieselfan, it seems Porus is not forthcoming with these details, which, in all likelihood are not even documented.
Of course it must have been he and possibly Dad that looked after all the maintenance aspects. Parts could not have been difficult to source. That engine was used in the Maruti 1000s and also the Gypsy MG 410 & 410Ws. Parts support is still available!

Kudos to him (and in general to ALL 'bawajis') that the whole thing worked!

M1000 was a fantastic car. I had mine for 8 years before I sold her. The first clutch job was at at 80,000kms and tires lasted for 90,000kms. My mechanic was shocked! No major jobs except the AC compressor failing very early.

If I remember correctly it was 70% japanese with few indian parts. It was a transitional model, 1993. I still miss it sometimes
