Where is this taken... somewhere near VIP Road?
The dude can't sop smiling... at all. Of course! No one would after such back to back awesome trips.

How was the meeting?
Please post up more on what did two travel junkies discussed? Maybe a Ladakh plan cooking up for this year?

Yup - VIP Road it is.

Talking about what we discussed would be purely :OT on this thread, so I'll abstain!

Now what to do when you suddenly have mobile cam taking a video and it comes up on the net, thats almost "mms" quality!!! As they say any publicity is good publicity, particularly with travel forum and website almost on launch. Just saw you registered, about 15 days more as it comes online fully.

Had a lot of drama in many sections, though not stuck, while going to interior forest and while returning back it was this where went in momentarily, particularly like the way the VTT-TMT slided through the way it was wanted while going through logs lying on both sides. Son wanted to see how the rear tyre moves in a 2wd vehicle and was very securely held, and again asked when we get a 4wd.

YouTube - Almost stuck inside a remote forest with a 2wd 2 tonner.

Some other pics that do leave a mark as I take out various pics for all the remaining travelogues.

Along with two of my good friends, Deba and Surja.

Almost a Tolkien image, good thats 1200 km from home.

Lost in a forest, somewhere in interior Chhattisgarh.

And with no tourists or anyone out here for the last 2 years or so, nature is undisturbed. Exotic bracket fungi along an enchanting forest stream

And for the first time on the internet, a place for where no photos exist till now. A place beyond Koyoul as we go towards Demachok, through a cold desert plateau of 15-16k feet, precariously close to India-China border - sometimes we veer almost to China to go back to India.

Can you share the AT tire specs ?

Thanks

Fatal error!! The front A/T are BF Goodrich ones, not Bridgestones as written last. For this tour at the rear, one had tubed Bridgestone H/T and the other a tubeless but sidewall patched [got cut at Chandrataal] BF Goodrich A/T

ADC,

Not much to say as the videos and photos speak for themselves!

Happy reclaiming!

HW, thanks much and for all those good words here one more pic of that high altitude plateau somewhere near Indo-china border. Its flat, bone dry and absolutely amazing, and you can speed up to triple digits even. GPS readings with google earth [thanks again Sutripta-da] showed that sometimes we were into China and sometimes India, there's no pillar demarcation as such over there but generally the Indus river just about entering India through Tibet becomes the boundary LAC.

Beyond Koyoul towards Demachok, one side of the mountains are of India the other of China

Absolutely you will. Any travel is good travel and this too coming up.

This one I have for mine [unashamedly loving my own taken pic!] but then like the colours and pristine nature!

Brochure material there, ADC!

Did what I can do easily - set it as my desktop background image! :)

Safari Dicor VTT 2wd - - truly The Magnificent Tourer!
Tata Safari Dicor 2.2 LX VTT-TMT [The Magnificient Tourer] - the first 2.2 on T-Bhp-lc630001.jpg

For the first time in 3 years and 10 months of ownership, as we head out for another travel [Valley of Flowers, Hemkund and Badrinath/Mana], Safari VTT-TMT is left out standing in the garage - but for no fault of its!

Tata Safari Dicor 2.2 LX VTT-TMT [The Magnificient Tourer] - the first 2.2 on T-Bhp-img_4863.jpg

As son grows older, he is 6+ now, and seeing his performance at the walk in Chandertaal without any acclimatization and previously in Pin Valley and Gurudongmar, we are slowly starting into trek, and then by next year some high altitude treks will be attempted. As said in Ladakh thread, trekking is something we would start now - driving I am confident even at 60, but some wonderful treks must be done before our knees give way in another 7-8 years. And with no VTT and this being a train-trek journey, we have 11 of our good friends also on this trip - this trip we are looking forward to great gossip and adda, along with of course travel!

So even as Safari VTT-TMT looks forlorn in the garage this time, it can look forward to another big time, one of a kind journey in October to Zanskar and beyond - again it should be a great travel in the off of off-season month of October 2011.

HELLO Folks,

Check these pics of my Tata Safari 2.2 VTT,2008 mODEL.I just adore the safari to the extent that i find it better looking than the Fortuners and Endeavors of the world. It is by far the best INDIAN MADE SUV EVER!!!

Regards,
Vikram

The 1st Tata Safari 2.2 LX on Team Bhp is on the verge of completion its 4 years of wonderful and amazing travels and journeys - and what better than a trip to some great lesser known and unknown places of Zanskar and Kashmir - again an off-of-offseason travel for us. We will be going out of Zanskar only by 3rd week of October and hope the Pensi la remains open, whatever be its condition.

The MapmyIndia GPS usb port has gone kaput and so GPS tracks will be missed and any directions have to be asked from truck drivers and chai shops. But then again trust we have on this Safari VTT-TMT, most probably like everytime it will bring us back home safely through all the varied roads, tracks, weather and places.

Had given the Safari for some check up, oil and filter change and what the service station saw on hoist was much much more than any thoughts.

All those antics with a 2wd at Eagle Nest to Bum la's and off season Koyoul and Demochoks, Gurudongmars and Dantwada, North Bihar forests and Kupup roads have left its mark. From busted coil springs [though broken badly it was still in place and most probably they were broken during all through the Ladakh trip and over 1 year of travel was done on that condition ] to leaking shock absorbers [as it took the load due to broken coil springs] to tie rods to centre link replacement to misc bushes and bearings and brake pads -- I have now an itemized bill that runs for 4 pages and thousand of rupees.

I don't dispute the items, brutal travel was done with a 2wd these 4 years. And we move again - again a mutual fund/shares had to be sold but we will travel - money is much better spent like this than agonizing on these now routine stock market antics and seeing fund and share values being wiped out.

So finally Zanksar and Kashmir it is that had been decided today, we have 24 hours before we leave and not like last time when we had 12 hours for packing up for the Ladakh travel.

And so, in summary, from tomorrow will begin the grand celebration travel for all of the 4 years of fantastic ownership of the first 2.2 Safari - the one and only Tata Safari 2.2 LX VTT-TMT.

clap: adc on the move again! Do call as you pass through my parts of the country this time, will you please?
