binz-good write up and really cool car,how did you get the gear knob fixed?when ever i come across a good gear knob and i ask the shop guys whether it can be fitted without the rubber boot falling of they say no.

What's the max speed you achieved after all these mods?
BTW how is your car now and do you plan to change the steering.
I'm afraid it's 44K.

Hey guys ive been having a problem with my car which is driving me crazy.It feels damn sluggish,just manages to keep up with a swift diesel idles erratically,and mileage has taken a BIG hit.

Checked compression today,and it was holding around 190-195 psi in all cylinders.Thats fantastic considering the motor has done around 80,000 km of very enthusiastic driving!

Its still very very sluggish.

A brief history,oil changes have been regular every 5000km with shell mineral oil.
Head is ported and polished,4-1 headers.Enlarged throttle body and an exedy clutch.Fuel drlivery system has been checked completely and the tank has been cleaned.I also run 195-60-14 advan neovas at 30psi.(I know they slow me down but that does not justify lack of engine response.)

Now recently when the throttle body was being put back,I noticed the Intake manifold was literally clogged with carbon deposits.Right now Im looking to get the Intake cleared up,the PCV valve replaced,the IAC valve and tps values checked.

Apart from that ..

Should i get the head opened up and cleaned too?
Would an OWS-engine flush do the trick considering the high-mileage of the engine?

Hey,havent will keep you posted on this as soon as i clear my problems above.
Everything else on the car is fine,i enjoy the way she stays on the road with the neovas and the the dail drive to college is really enjoyable with the system Satya put in.
Also got a new steering wheel,an OMP corsica to go with my OMP1000 pedals.Driving only going to get better with this :thumbs up

The gear-know was lying at a friends place actually and wasn't being used coz they couldn't get the allen-head screws. Thats how i got it! The Rubber boot grips just above the allens-crews on the base of the gear-knob.

I think now wrt Balenos you are in fact one of the experts!

well managed to sort things out so far! replaced the pcv valve and cleaned the intake manifold!Also hooked up a digital tach and realised that the stock guage has become inaccurate. sorted out the idle issue my self,car now idles perfectly at 750 rpm:)

Tomorrow Psycho is going to map the ECU on the car .. will post a before and after comparison too ..

Sorry man i just saw the thread, my advice is dont touch the engine for decarb since compression is good. Just use some good old flushing oil and put in new oil instead, if engine flush was being used regularly use it, otherwise avoid it.

Psycho mapped the RACEdynamics ecu today. There a BIG difference in torque compared to stock.Further fine tuning is required between 6500rpm to 7200rpm. Psycho should be able to get it to produce usable power in the first four gears till 7000rpm.

Oh an btw,did 165kmph on the Koramangala-Indiranagar ring road,could have gone more,but i short shifted into fourth.

Idle is 800rpm with the ecu on.

Hi, can you explain in more detail about the idling issue and how it was taken care of.
How fast was that 165 acheived?

Did you spend 44k for the steering rack?

I put in a Stewart-warner digital tach and adjusted it against the rpm readings on the RACEdynamics tuning software. Then adjusted the idle screw to let it idle on the stock ECU at 750 rpm. The confusion was because the stock rpm-guage lost its accuracy when the speedo-lights were changed.Not a big issue,will get it calibrated again.

I can't really say,will have to hook up a data-logger and check exactly.

@ nitrous,using a used rack and pump which I sourced.

To those few of you who go through my thread,heres an update ..

Rear wheel bearings gone - $GP part so each is Rs6105.21.
Bought two.

Front and rear engine mounts also have been ordered.They should come in tomorrow.Will update with pics and prices one I get the bill.

What are the symptoms to indicate that these parts require replacement?

Well i had a typical bearing noise increasing with increase in speed.
To confirm you can jack up the car, put your hand lightly on the spring(suspension) and spin the wheel. If there is abnormal vibration on the spring,its the bearings.Ideally you shouldn't feel anything.

And how does one check engine mount issues? Btw, would you be able to post snaps to indicate where the engine mounts are located?
