M800 DX (1999-2005) | WB02E0341 - The Love Mobile

Unexpected isnt it? To be writing a LTO Report on something in existent.

But then the car deserves it and many of you would agree with me as during those times 1999-2005 that I owned it, the M800 was the affordable workhorse for many.

I did have a lot of problems with the car like AC, Ignition, rough idling etc. I had bought it for INR 1.35 lakhs in 1999. I spent INR 96000 on its maintenance during the tenure 1999-2005 during which it had:
  • 3 suspension overhauls
  • 1 engine overhaul
  • 3 AC repairs (till I settled for the mighty SANDEN in the end)
  • other repairs as the car had to be parked in waterlogged driveway for weeks every year.
  • Wheel Bearings, Axles, Steering Racks
  • 2 ICE Fitments (1 stolen)
  • 2 Tyre changes
That averages to a maintenance and servicing cost of INR 10K per annum (without ICE). And it was driven for about 58K Kms out of which 38K was driven by me. The Mighty SANDEN wore off the engine and by the time it got worse, i was lucky to sell it for INR 40K.

The Romance
But I cannot forget the romance that it was, especially because it was a cosy coop to date women. (they sat closest to you in this car). Actually the distance between the front bucket seats increases as you go up every segment.

In the Innova for example, two people may need to actually sit on one bucket seat to romance. And one may need to call the person in the third row on his mobile from the front seats. Just joking.

ICE
The ICE setup was the most enjoyable of all, as the whole vehicle would vibrate with the thumps like a BASS Generator. Infact the car itself acted like a BASS Port, especially the effects coming out from the front windows.

Mileage

I used to get 12kmpl in city driving and got a max of 15 kmpl with AC on all the times. Towards its final years, I used to get a mileage of 9kmpl as I used it as a AC Cabin for hours together.

I always made sure that the Original Seat Covers were on. The film used to be as dark as possible. I changed them every 2 years. I prefer the matt effect. So no chrome anywhere.

I did quite a lot of wheelspinning and drifts on it. My hobby was to fishtail at every turning. Traffic used to be less too in those years. The car used to max out @ 100 kmph.

Drivoblogs?? None :-(
The Vehicle never went out of Kolkata, except once when we went to Digha. I was never allowed to do such long trips, and in return was allowed to LIVE, EAT, SLEEP, ROMANCE in the car whole day.

Sorry Sumeet. That was quite many years back. I don't even have the records handy.
